Never really noticed it before but the dude with the White Gretch is almost dwarfed by his guitar. And I didn’t realize Cliff was so tall. Camera angle?

I think compared to the rest of them Cliff is tall, Angus is only 5'1", they were both short. Malcolm usually played a smaller Gretsch too. I love the Bon Scott version of the band, reading a book about his life right now and figured I'd check out some of the later stuff right after the Bon stuff.

Absolute speculation on my part (with a few data points that give rise to the speculation).

I am guessing that they are not writing songs in English.

The experience from the Eurovision Song Contest is that to be successful outside of the contest, the band(s) must write songs in English. And thinking about that for a minute, about 25% of the world speak English as a result of British colonialism. Amongst non-native English speakers, English is the most common second language. Learning a second language adds less than 10% to lifetime earnings unless that second language is English in which case it is about a 25% increase in lifetime earnings. English is the international language of commerce and science (and probably many other things of which I am unaware). So, I speculate that to be successful in music you need to have English songs. Notable exceptions would include Rammstein (and can't think of any others off the top of my head).

English is also the language of air traffic control. But, if I ever write a song it will be on Spanish, because Spanish sounds better to me. Latin American Spanish does anyway.

I think of pop as crossing genres - it’s music that’s made to appeal to the masses. Country has pop just as rock, metal, and punk do. Maybe opera, too. Have to ask my opera singer friend…

I agree with your take. Some songs I can't last till the end. Though I may not like it, I enjoy hearing what others enjoy. I'm fascinated by the different tastes in music. Some of the things posted here I find very cool, some interesting, a few others are what I would play in cells of child molesters 24/7. It's funny as well as interesting how people like find various styles of music that click and resonate with and them. I really try to be open to new to me music, but with some I don't have that much try, I suppose. It's true for everyone and that's partly why it's fascinating. I heard some guys go by in a car this week and the music sounded like cheesy commercial music to me, but they were digging it (I assume). I always want to ask someone with tastes very different from mine, what it is about a style that draws them or speaks to them. I know words often say what we think and represent us in some ways, but what draws us to different styles of music itself within one generally similar culture is just interesting to me. All this said with the acknowledgment that some of what I like is horrible for others.

Here you go then. This will polarize people. I love it. No lyrics so there is that.

I didn't really care for them when they were new, 20-25 years ago, just wasn't my thing back then, so I totally get it.

I got re-introduced? to them a year or so ago, and I found that now, I really like most of their stuff.
But, a lot of my musical tastes/preferences have changed since then, so these days, I listen to whatever I happen to be liking this week

The huge variety of music on Spotify and Amazon music, even obscure stuff, from all over the world, have been really great tools for expanding the kinds of music I like & listen to

Thanks for your kind words Marshall! Paul is good and usually he's a bit loud on his solo's, especially Mission:Impossible where he uses a flanger. It could have been that his amp was angled away from the camera mic because I don't recall having difficulty hearing him that night.

Outside with TSC's tomorrow at 4PM at Winters' Tavern in Pacifica. Their annual "Beaster" Sunday. It'll be Kirstin's last show before her new daughter is born. We rehearsed one new song to debut tomorrow with relative lyrics!

There was a period he used them live, but I don’t think he recorded with them. He’s been playing a MusicMan for eons now.

I'm excited to play/hear it - most of my live pedals are only used for one song each, but they really deliver it so it's worth it. We're already rockin' History Repeating and it will just make it that much better! I've used my EH Mel9 with bass and it sounds awesome, but it primarily is for Kirstin's keys which is used a a few songs.
