Thunderbird Club

nailed it on the head..it does….sometimes…then out of the blue, it dives to 0 along with the temp gauge… the alternator gauge jumps to over 17 Volts (i turn on the headlights to bring it down when it does that) and the directionals stop working…instead when you want to signal l/r the interior pilot lamp comes on lol….no joke…
then next day it’s like nothing happened and may stay that way for awhile…..yep, the Lucas jokes exist for a reason…i know it’s an intermittent contact type issue but don’t have the interest or fortitude to chase it down right now….
Place I worked in the mid 80s had a head of QA that was previously with Lucas Electric. I had to bite my cheeks when we were introduced.

I like Reverend stuffs but have never liked with any 30" scale, besides I have so many different types of geetars I don't need to go down any rabbit holes....

but If they offered me a sig model.... ohh the possibilities....
Body shape- giant bunny slipper. Headstock shape- human foot. The only bass with a hairy (fretless) fretboard.

Speaking of VWs and Mexico, I’m in Mexico for a work conference and decided to stay an extra day to see Chichen Itza. Spotted this beauty in a town on the way back. I wasn’t able to get a pic of the interior, but he had a box fan running on the passenger seat! So he’s either added an inverter it modded the fan to run on DC.

My wife and I will be in Puerto Morales soon. Not far from Chichen Itza. I am not sure if we will get there. I hope to learn to scuba dive and swim around the barrier reef, but I haven't made time to learn yet. One more project on the pile.

The Prince is messing with you.

Agree. It was my intro to them. Although many don’t like it, I’ve always thought it was a cool album.
Keep Me Hanging On was my intro. I loved it as much as the Supremes version. Compositionally and overall, the Fudge ruled this song, but the Supremes voices had an appeal to this 10 year old that VF couldn’t touch.

Looks like Goth glamour photo day today. Here’s my three…
A wide nut China built 2010 Goth I refer to as my Capped Goth, one of the best playing Tbirds I own…

Note: I’ve apparently mistakenly referred to this as my Korean Goth in the past, the neck plate clearly says made in China, not sure how I made that mix up. But I do love the wider nut and neck on this one and for whatever reason, it feels better made than the other two.

A narrow nut China built 2019 Goth that will eventually be the recipient of the FrankenGoth guts once I find suitable pickups…

I bought this used on line, listed in fair condition. I can’t find a darn flaw on it. Plays nice, tuners are typical Goth garbage.

A narrow nut China built 2017 Goth that has been altered in every way imaginable as a test mule for different sound and visual concepts, hence known as the FrankenGoth…

Front headstock shot before the reversed headstock mod. This one will be gutted someday. In stock form it was never a great player, but modded with a preamp and coil split pickups it really came to life. When no longer needed, this neck will be a charity donation to @JIO , he can use it as an example of what not to do to a thunderbird LOL.
And here are the photos of my Goths:

Wait no longer.
New Bass Day at the GB house - Looks and plays fantastic and the seller was great to work with. Scratches an itch I’ve had for a while now. I might eventually put a Wenge pickguard on it and maybe some flats, but other than that she’s wonderful as is…

That is one of the most beautiful basses I’ve seen!

and that’s what I mean, slap, pop, stretch, pull…generally being hard on them….pretty convinced ambient temp plays a role as well..
I get the "play lightly and let the amp do the work" concept, and I try to operate that way as much as I can. But live, when the band is cookin, those percussive pops are too much fun!

Wow!
Can’t wait for your report
I’ll spend more time with it this weekend and do a report next week.

Very nice!!

I kind of like the D-Roc too. And although I have tried one ad found it easier than expected, I still think I'm not smart enough for fanned frets.
If I can do them anyone can.

Dude! I would love to find a Dbird! How’s the weight?
Nice and light, 7 pounds 10 ounces. Perfectly balanced on a strap and even perfectly balanced on my lap without a strap. Super thin and comfy body, very fast neck, ultra low action, zero fret buzz.

I would love to buy the MOD Shop. Don’t think they’re selling it, though.
AFAIK everything in the mod shop is for sale. Put it in your basket and pull the trigger, let’s us know what happens.

No, no, no. I want to buy the SHOP.
