Del McCoury Band; 1952 Vincent Black Lightning. One of my favorites, too. I had a chance to buy a... 1954, IIRC... Vincent Black Shadow once, when I was stationed in the UK. It wasn't in collector's condition, but it was very clean; all there; and very rideable. To make matters worse? I had the money, too. But, the thought of bringing it back to the States, and riding it, made it an "I'll have to pass" thing. I don't own anything I won't play; ride; drive; or shoot. The thought of riding a bike like that, surrounded by lunatics in cars? Uh... no. Glad I didn't buy it, 'cause I wound up in Las Vegas Nevada for the next 34 years. It's not very safe just standing in your driveway there; and, the fun, twisty roads that a Vincent deserves... just aren't there, anyhow.:whistle:

I was always amazed by people at the DMV in California. I made an appointment and was in and out in 10 minutes the first time and 15 the second time. Meanwhile, there is a line of people without appointments around the outside of the building waiting to talk to someone, even though there are signs that say no waiting with an appointment; appointments available for today.

The mind boggles.

the headless NR I’m building will likely be one of the few I’m keeping with frets… unless I keep my 4003ac or my 95 4003… probably one will get sold and then the headless will get defretted…. Scaling down sucks

*For those concerned about the wife, she’s actually pulling through the cancer challenge quite well. We’re in chemo for the remainder of this week, which will wrap up round four. If progress continues on its current path she should be out of the woods after the next round of chemo three weeks from now. Many many thanks to all those great club members around the world and their friends that put in countless prayers, well wishes and positive thoughts on her behalf. :):thumbsup:

We’re not done yet, but at least the light at the end of the tunnel is getting much much closer and it doesn’t look like an on-coming train.

This is the first I have heard about this. You must have disclosed during my winter hiatus.

Best wishes for a successful outcome. Unfortunately, everything I am working on cancer related is still in animal testing until later this year or early next year. But if there is anything I can do; information, advice, reassurance, etc. let me know.

I read Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail. It was very amusing. But I suspect that all the Fear and Loathing books are more or less the same, so I haven't read any others. The sequence about one of the candidates being on ibogaine was hilarious.

We have lines at times. They encourage you to make appointments. Generally that doesn't work via the website where you are encouraged to do so....... Maybe they fixed it.

Fortunately we can do car renewals by mail for $4 and avoid going in at all. No brainer for me.

His Hells Angels book is different. Las Vegas is the Classic. I read Campaign Trail in college for a class. I barely remember it. But his Rolling Stone articles were classic. My favorite is the one when he covered Evil Knievel’s Snake River jump.

We go to the AAA Auto Club for most things, except for license renewals when they actually want to make sure you can see.
