A vintage 1979 Hambacker (with a 1990 serial number), and only a slightly warped neck. What a deal! It’s gonna take longer than 7 minutes to get here, so unfortunately all the frets will be gone before it arrives. Might be a perfect buy for Willy.

Other important facts from the ad - it’s apparently been in a battle sometime in the past, and has a fingerboard that’s peeling. If that’s not enough to make this a one of a kind bass, it also has “strap pin position change marks on the fingerboard”. On the bright side, it does state “there is room for a truss rod”, no mention of the rod being shipped with the bass. Also, apparently has 6 strings, the height of the 6th one is 2.25mm. Oh, and the icing on the cake is this model is an Electric Acoustic Guitar.

Sounds really unique!

Yes, I'm aware. Fender's calendar (at least then) began in July. The dot & bound J introduced in January '66 changed to block & bound in July '66, and why it is more sought after as it was only made for 6 months. CBS also introduced the in-house produced "lollypop" tuners on it which turned up on a few late '65 J's. So regardless of the sale to CBS, July of '65 is when Fender/CBS officially changed in terms of production.

Another detail/indication of that transition was the "Offset Contoured Body" decal which moved from next to the Fender decal to the top of the hs. This started to be seen in late '65, after CBS officially took over at Fender.

I looked at their menu. Great selection of good stuff and it's on the way from Orlando(my daughter's house)to Tampa. Except they have fried catfish and my daughter is allergic to seafood.

Actually exactly like that, I forgot about that, mine was really beat by the time I got done with it, I put the Jazz neck on it after I ruined the rosewood fretless neck, I played the thing to death. It had nitro paint and I wore it down to the wood where I rested my plucking arm, the neck was all worn on the back too. I really miss that bass now. I had a leather homemade leather neck strap which kept slipping off so I attached it with washers and wood screws. It stayed like that for years though, I think it was still on it when I sold it.

We saw Ricky Skaggs, Asleep at the Wheel, and Manhattan Transfer on the same bill at Austin City Limits. For the finale, they all took the stage together. Super crowded, but amazing. We ended up on an elevator with Cindy Cashdollar. Very cool, down to earth person.

I wouldn't expect Manhattan Transfer to be on that same bill.

The stubby tuners on my '68 Coral Deluxe Bass and Silvertone 1443 Hornets are reverse-wind. (Dano made) Sorta' odd as the late '60s is when most reverse-wind tuners, reversed. My '66 P clover-tuners are also reverse. Once Fender/CBS switched to the more modern-plate tuners - they were reversed.

Most 4001's were reverse tuners too, that's where I got used to them, I was a Ric player for a long time too, I still have a 4001 now.
