…well, not quite a winery for me on Saturday:

Brewery is kinda like a winery, right? No? Yeah, no….

Using the white Eppi VP for the 2nd 2/3”s of the set. I just put new EBCF’s on it but, I’m not thinking ultimately these are the best choice of string for the VP. It’s tuned to Eb, and we drop to Db for 3 songs. It sounds good enough through my PF20t/PF112HLF quietly practicing tonight, but when the E is down to Db, it’s not the best. Ill be going through my AD200 MK3, OB210 and OB115 tomorrow and I’m sure that will kill it! The flats are really full but…

Thinking the VP and rounds are best….

I’m stoked to have the warranty replacement Rumble 100 for Sunday. I wasn’t disappointed in having one, but this gets me back to two, and it sounds twice as good.

The white CP this week. As much as i love the tone of the Greco, the CP just feels so good to play. (As does the VP, but I want solid low end for where I sit in the mix).

I have got to get busy on swapping electronics between the Greco and VP!

wonder why they croaked……silly non credible name? reliability?….for a now defunct bass amp company to produce something that “sounds better” than GK. Ashdown, Aguilar and so on doesn’t paint a bright picture of the future for young amp designers does it?….
LOL - the name was always more than a bit cheesy. Dave Funk was the owner, hence Thunderfunk. As for reliability, pretty much bulletproof. All SS and very well built. But at the end of the day, it was a one man show and that one man decided it was time to retire with no one else to take the reins.

Here’s a link to an interesting interview of Dave Funk that sheds light on what the amp is all about and what makes it different than other amps…
Cliff Engel | Interviews - Thunderfunk Amplification

Some very interesting history on how the Thunderfunk came to be and just how intertwined a lot of the the bass amp industry was…
History lesson - Thunderfunk/SWR/Eden, etc.

thx G, be nice if you could bring it with you if you come up…

It’s Fender Friday!
This is on its way here from the UK, hopefully will arrive in one piece late next week.

I love those but if I had one I'm sure I couldn't keep from modding either one of those pickups closer to the other.

I'd love a Tele with a double SCPB pickup (or pickups). As Fender has double J-pickups why not double SCPB's? Would look cool, just like the (presumably) coverless Guild pickups on John Sauter's bass here:

Seen best briefly during the solo clip when the camera man realizes it's not Ted wailing.

No problem. One of the pots on the parametric EQ is a bit scratchy. I did the typical 20 or 30 thirty cycles full left to right and back, which usually sweeps most pots relatively clean of dust, but it’s still a bit scratchy. Might need a shot of air or possibly a pot replacement. Works fine, just not noise free on the pot when turning, which I rarely do anyway.

we can put it on the bench and give it a going over…..curious to hear it through the Ampeg 1540….

Might be interesting, never played through the 4x10+1x15 Ampeg cab before. My Thunderfunk is rated at 450 watts into 4 ohms IIRC, and has speakon jacks. Will that work with the 1540 cab?

Marshall, you need to work on that right foot.

I drove from Tucumcari NM (near the texas border, much further away than ABQ) to Camarillo CA (north of Los Angeles) in one day. And that included stopping for lunch at Chick Filet in Flagstaff while getting a flat tire fixed (had to buy and install two new tires because the spare was flat too) and had to let the car cool off for about an hour in 115 degree heat in Needles before we crossed the Mojave Desert because the head gasket was starting to fail and the engine was smoking like a chimney. I think we even stopped for a fast food drive thru bite once we got near LA. We left NM around 8:00 in the morning and arrived at our Camarillo CA hotel before midnight. It was about a 900 mile day.

:nailbiting:We were sweating big time as we approached the CA state line and saw the Highway Patrol check point open:help:. They flagged us by, so we kept moving otherwise we would have had a lot of explaining to do. I had the Cayenne stacked to the gills with things I didn’t trust to the shippers (about 15 of my most valuable basses, several large pieces of very valuable artwork, silver and gold, and thousands of dollars in cash among other things). The things you do when you’re young and stupid (that was a whole 10 years ago, I’m much smarter now).o_O
You’re lucky the AZ Highway Patrol didn’t stop you. They stopped my son when he was coming home for summer break after his first year at NAU. He was doing 95 in a Volvo station wagon. They made him unload all his stuff on the side of the road. They didn’t find anything, but gave him a ticket and left him by himself to load everything back into the car.

Bayou Cables. I believe his name is Butch. Is a TB member.
I had him make a several long cables and a number of patch cables. I've used my Rt angle for possibly 15 years at church. Never an issue (with any of them). I've had other name brand cables with much less hours that have long gone in the garbage. He will make them however you want and has several options including color.
Bayou Audio Cables
Thanks. I need to try them to replace the short (overhyped) Mogami cables I use for my wireless transmitters. It seems like I always have to retighten them. Very annoying.
