I just sent them a message about refinishing the fretless 'Bird. I think it would get played a whole lot more if it wasn't such a gloomy dark burst. See what they say, and then see how long it takes before I get my thumbs out.

Thanks for the recommendation. The guy who did the Flamingo seems to be out of business these days. I thought it turned out well and would have sent him the fretless as well, but now there is another option.

I've read posts on tb of people having issues with MJT, but personally and also scrutinizing them as being in a similar biz - I had a very good experience and have no problem recommending them. Like with anything - it's key to be very clear what you want. They have their own in-house examples but you can also send them pics of a finish you want. We went back & forth a few times (them sending pics) on the relic'ing, each time requesting a bit more. Once I saw what I wanted - I signed-off on it.

Being in a visual biz myself - I can't read minds but am successful when my client is very clear and frankly trusts me to come up with something based of their input.

No lightening bolts from my ThunderCaster project, but it will shoot thunder out of its output jack. It’s still a work in progress but if I can finish it before the GTG I’ll bring it to Hollister. In preliminary testing it even shames a Greco on the bottom end.

I’ve often wondered, if you took a cross section of a carbon fiber neck is it hollow on the inside? Or is it solid resin?

neck - solid

I don't want relicing, so that makes it much easier. A near new looking finish that I will beat up myself is what I generally want.

Since I have Marshall's Studio just sitting here minding its own business, I decided to record it vs. a CP to see if the TB+ pickups really sound the same. Of course, two different strings will impact that but WTH...
