Since I have Marshall's Studio just sitting here minding its own business, I decided to record it vs. a CP to see if the TB+ pickups really sound the same. Of course, two different strings will impact that but WTH...

As far as I understand it, they did three runs of NRs. NRs were highly sought after, but Gibson wouldn’t do them. So TBird enthusiasts, primarily Rob, with encouragement from Scott, V and others, got BaCH to build a very nice reproduction at a good price with some modest tuners, pickups, and electronics that could be easily upgraded. Gibson and Epi were making plenty of reverses.

Owning a BaCH Thunderbird is recommended for all club members. If you don’t like the pickup, change it. Very much well worth the investment.

I found it funny that it is a some sort of a revelation that the song was played on a Magnum. He used it at that time a lot.

That was news to me that he used the ugly IV for the recording. No wonder he preferred the II on stage.

Roger Glover had a brief Magnum period too at the early 80's as did Wally Lowe of the band Magnum. But is Jah Wobble still the most known Ovation Magnum player?

You could do what you did on the ‘13. With no neck thinning needed. You would want a different pickup though. The Artec is fine for what it is. A budget humbucker.

I’ll get around to doing a pickup change and will upgrade pots as well. Assuming new pots will fit.

yeah, familiar with the story, just wondering since they were making other instruments that were still in production by the OEMs….

I don't believe they built an actual reverse model, but did build a 7enderBird style. This one at the link has been modified a good bit. The original version only came with one pickguard tho.
