Good sounding bass. I'd love to get an RD, kind of afraid of the Moog electronics though and they are bucks now. I thought of buying one a few years ago when Gibson reissued them but changed my mind.

They are great basses, but every RD I've ever picked up seemed to weigh about 12 pounds. The Discobass is only shaped like an RD and weighs about 9 pounds.

Ampeg Booster Bass Combo Amp b-100r?

GC says almost $400 but see one local listed for $100. Likely could get it for $75 as tolex is a bit rough.

I wonder what the seller will say when I tell him the fix was a 50 cent part. I love finding sellers that don’t have the skill or desire to fix things and just discount them to get them out the door.

It usually is something simple like that, it's finding it that's difficult. I bought this about fifteen years ago, didn't work and all it was was a burnt resistor.

Schaller. Most likely nobody's fault but mine as I hadn't checked them properly. Stupid accident.
Luckily it wasn't the '76 I used to own or somebody else's 'Bird.

I have all the bits and it is probably fixable.

That sucks, but it is definitely fixable. (Look up Gibson Les Paul headstock repairs on youtube)

I'd have to try one, wide neck straps seems to help with weight though. I never even knew basses and amps were too heavy until I came here!

Jolana Discobass! I call foul! I've never even heard of one. Sounded pretty good though, and nice playing.

Listen... can't you hear it? Distant wah-wah pedals and double-step octave bass runs! (can you dig it? - good god...)

By high frequency is it like around high A on your bass? If so that would be 120 Hz hum and would be an electrolytic cap. I've had new preamp tubes oscillate but not often.

60hz and 120hz IIRC are closest to B

The time tested technique of banging the head will sometimes work too.

Sometimes, if a bandmate is humming, an authoritative thump on the head will stop it as well.

Well, lessee. $250 in 1973 money would equal ~$7500 in today's money, minus something(?) for the OHSC being gone, add something(?) for the Coffin(TM) Case and gig bag, plus ~$250 s&h comes out to [recalculating] umm, IDK.
(they said there'd be no math ).

It was my Jolana Discobass. Strings are old Chromes. The pickups look like humbuckers, but they pick up noise like single coils:

Thank you! I'm a sucker for a natural + black hardware look. No, I don't believe it was sanded down but there doesn't seem to be a thick layer or coat at all. The previous owner told me that they bought it and barely played or modded it so it should be all stock.

It probably is stock. They called it oil finish.
