I drove an auto 67 Newport with that 383 for a few months about 10 years ago, boy that thing was a boat but serious straight line "whoosh factor"....fun drive, hard to fathom a three on the tree in that....

A couple of friends of mine's father had a '66 New Yorker with a 440 in it, it used to burn out going 30 mph, then they burned out the transmission.

It's been a while. Maybe two decades? When I started dating Sharon, I had a 66 Econoline with a three on a tree and a 170ci straight six. The pivot point that let you switch from R/1 to 2/3 had broken so you had to stand up and jerk it up into the R/1 set or slam it down into the 2/3 set. She and my roomie's g/f learned to drive standard in that before I could get a replacement steering column. After that, driving any other manual transmission was a piece of cake.

I bought a second E100 when the first one died and kept one running with parts from the other for a little while, but when the second one died I bought a Yamaha XS650E and never looked back (except when I needed to haul gear, which I made the Yammie do, but ...)

Early Thunderbirds had a column shifter.

Yeah, mine could use a belt change, I bought the belts and then looked up the procedure......no thanks. I can do stuff like that but it takes me a LONG time, I double check, the triple check the check again. Pioneer CT-F950, it's a nice one though and still sounds good. Maybe I'll bring it back and ship it to you.

Akai? Those are good decks.

get it done before they chemically breakdown and dissolve (can’t avoid oxidation of the rubber) as cleaning the gunk off the spools can become a dealbreaker for the repair guy…it’s doable but very labor intensive, a major PITA…
been working on R to Rs forever, mostly 2” machines but haven’t touched one in at least a decade last one being a 3M machine at the Radio Television Luxembourg (RTL) studios…now mostly 1/4” machines smaller studios use to transfer analog recorded material to digital files….a fairly lucrative little service around here…
the owner of that Akai has a nice Teac as well…..thing is most young folks won’t touch these (easier to swap a card in a digital recorder) so they come to me….
worked on this Studer (my favorites) last year for someone offering the same service in the Costa del Sol….beautifully built machines…

Been thinking about getting a Thunderbird for a few years but it took this popping up on my Facebook feed to finally screatch the itch.

It’s a 2022, in as good as new condition with a genuine Epiphone hard case and I’m well impressed so far. Only weighs an touch over 8lbs and sits pretty well balanced on a suede strap, the neck feels great and it sounded pretty good going through the seller’s PA. Can’t wait to try it with the band through a proper rig as soon as our singer gets back from his holidays.

Used to buy it in Mexico all the time. It was prescription in the US then. Found generics in Europe that were pretty cheap too.

Sorry, my mistake, thought you had a cassette deck there, Studer's are supposed to be very nice machines. The Tascam reel to reel was refurbished by Adrian Pro Audio Service in 2016, it sounds and works great. I think they're out your way somewhere or other. Yeah, Canoga Park, CA?

I would have loved to have seen his bass collection that lined the spiral staircase in his castle, can't find any pictures of but have seen it someplace or other.

There's a book showing many pics - I saw it in a used book store years ago. It was small & hard-covered. (not the Bass Culture book) For some reason I didn't buy it.
