Since my pedal board has gotten noisy of late, I've been looking at pedal boards and such, because that's what I do: make myself crazy planning things out that I don't really need to do. Damn, those things are expensive for what they are. I get it; at my former employer one of my duties was calculating cost to manufacture and determining pricing structures, so I understand the "why"...I just don't like it. Maybe it's because I can't buy them at manufacturer or dealer cost. LOL!

It seems my One Spot needs some power cords replaced. My board is an older Pedaltrain that doesn't have a spot for a power supply and I don't have tools to notch it for one, so the short term fix will be to replace the power cords. In the long run i wanna replace the board, power supply, and patch cords...but that is gonna be a ways off.

Not a fan of one-spots, due to noise issues.

I have a pedaltrain... 2, I think? My guitarists' were sorta custom built, though.

Just a box. I have no tort, I have flats on one bass, and am thinking about mixing cabs. I guess I only subscribe to the box orthodoxy.

Yes, but the original box thread was hilarious. I like to poke fun at the orthodoxies here, hence the "comes with a box" comment. Perhaps my aversion to orthodoxy is why I like Thunderbirds? Or maybe they are just cofactors to something else.

I have a box of boxes in storage, if it comes with a box I keep it. It never stopped me from buying a bunch of used pedals that didn't have boxes.

I can relate to the box thing having been a gearhead in the astronomy world for a while. Having the box and caps for an eyepiece always commanded a higher price.

I have one of the Fender Modern Player Telecaster basses and suspect it wouldn't be far off the sound of a dual Humbucker Gibson with the neck Humbucker up against the neck heel and a matching bridge Humbucker all the way down near the bridge. Up until I got my 2013 EB 5 string this Fender was my go to bass for reggae and club dub type music. Ultra low, grunt type tones from the neck and strong low mid punch from the bridge. The only reason the EB replaced it was because of the low B string.

You really need headphones to appreciate how deep this bass dives.

If you take the box that the 18" speaker came in and put it over your head, and then listen to a recording of Wooly-Bully played outside the box, it sounds better.

I still have the heavy duty boxes my two GK Neo 212iis came in. A square has been cut out where the carry handles are so the handles can operate and the bottom removed. Heavy duty tape around all the edges.
Viola! Cheap cabinet covers! Works a treat.

Can't overstate the value of a good box. I always say that.

In a sample of 1, my One Spot had done well. Up until this last rehearsal, I packed up the Pedaltrain and brought it to practice. For gigs I use a Pedaltrain Nano, so there was probably more plugging and unplugging than would normally be. Considering the usage, for me I have to say I've more than got my money out of it. That said, I'm looking at power supplies. Dang, they're expensive. Stuff like the Joyo and it's million rebadged siblings aren't isolated, so they're basically a One Spot In A Box.

Plus, I'm trying to decide what pedal to get myself for my birfday. It's tomorrow but my new job doesn't pay me until 3/1, so I have some time. It's down to the MXR Bass Chorus because they're great and it can also Flange, and the TC Electronics Corona because I LOVE the Toneprint technology. They're within $30 or so if eachother. What to choose?

I actually sold the box for a fairly rare Knight's Armament vertical foregrip in FEW on EBay for ten bucks. Not the grip itself. Just the factory labelled box for it.

I think that I will have to do that so that I have some "ghetto covers"

I don't know. Although I'm sure the Velcro will stick to the cat, the cat will move around and will eventually get annoyed when you turn the effects on and off..

That's not Velcro, that's Dual Lock - the varmint is going nowhere.

Also @Haji, I can't overstate how much I like the Cioks PSUs. The Link series will fit under the small PT boards. I have the DC5 which does 5 x 9V/12V/18V @ 900mA total, or the Adam has 4 x 9V/12V @ 700mA.

Thanks for the heads up, Kat. I'll check 'em out. Heard the name but I'm unfamiliar with them. There's no dealer in the area that I'm aware of. Maybe if they made a P or J variant of that power supply somebody in Nashville would carry them...
