Drinking leads to bass playing, which we are told results in biting.
Two words for @GBassNorth - Headphone Amplifier. And scotch. Ok, three words...
I have DR Lo-Riders (SS) on mine, which pretty much sound like Hi-Beams after they've settled in. Hi-Beams used to be my go-to string on every bass I've owned since the late '90s. They're great once they break in, but they're appallingly bright and clanky when you first put them on. At stage volume, it's a little frightening... Like you're not completely in control (if I put a set of Hi-Beams on a bass, I wouldn't even take it to band practice for a week or so). But I loved the sound of those strings once they broke in, and they last a long time, so I put up with the clank and (almost shrill) brightness. Eventually, I ended up trying a set of Lo-Riders and discovered that they have the sound that I like right out of the package. I wish I had tried them years ago. They sound great on the bird too. I think I'm going to keep Lo-Riders on that bass... but I'd still like to hear what it sounds like with Cobalt flats (I've got 'em on 2 other basses so far).
In a fit of "Diabolical Laughter" I down my scotch and yell, "
Sod it all, I'm going to Play My Bass!!!"........
that is, as soon as wifey poo wakes up (I fear her more than the dog
).

That's the problem with the modern curriculum, they teach you sod all that is of any practical use. For example, if they had taught me this little mathematical proof it would have saved me a lot of stress in my life:Bass math word problems. We never covered that in school.

Ah... similar thoughts here. I have a fuzzy agreement that I can get a 'good' bass this year, after tax return.
I started at a 50s series P bass (or Sting or similar).
Then I convinced myself that the EB 13 or 14 would be the one. Gassed hard for one of those. Thought of a 2015 T'Bird, or a 2012, 2013 Goldie or a Cataldo or local build.
But - money... and I have a Bird that I'm loving already.
Now that new Epi is coming. I could imagine one of those in ebony in my hands.
EB is still favourite I think but who knows where I'll end up.
Also truth be told what I have is enough for what I do and need. But whenever is enough actually enough.

Seriously, though, the Sting is a fine bass, if you can get past the 12th fret inlay (I can and did). Single coil P Basses are one of my favourites. (No one can hear the hum from the pickup once the rest of the band starts anyway).
The EB is very tempting.
How can you go wrong with another TBird of any sort? If the Epis have Chinabuckers, which sounds like could be the case, they will sound great and a bit different to your Goth.

Hey guys and gals. I've been gone for a week on patrol. I'm back home for a couple days before I depart for a while longer. I definitely missed my wife and daughter....but I'll be damned if I didn't miss playing the T-bird. I'm drinking right now, but I will be playing the T-bird once I'm done...and then again tomorrow and the next day. Still love this bass.
Depending on the EB, it's the same thing...
Have this same model myself and love it! I use it primarily for learning new songs and practicing at home.

Since my pedal board has gotten noisy of late, I've been looking at pedal boards and such, because that's what I do: make myself crazy planning things out that I don't really need to do. Damn, those things are expensive for what they are. I get it; at my former employer one of my duties was calculating cost to manufacture and determining pricing structures, so I understand the "why"...I just don't like it. Maybe it's because I can't buy them at manufacturer or dealer cost. LOL!
It seems my One Spot needs some power cords replaced. My board is an older Pedaltrain that doesn't have a spot for a power supply and I don't have tools to notch it for one, so the short term fix will be to replace the power cords. In the long run i wanna replace the board, power supply, and patch cords...but that is gonna be a ways off.

When I was 12 or 13 and knew nothing about bass other than an idea I wanted to play one, the EB3 was that bass.
Pedal boards are crazy expensive.

I don't know. Although I'm sure the Velcro will stick to the cat, the cat will move around and will eventually get annoyed when you turn the effects on and off..
Speaking of effects, Long & McQuade is having their inventory blow out. My local was selling off 2 brand new red rippers for C$99 (less than US$76). Hard to go wrong at that price. I picked one up and it is fun. Everything from a nice mild overdrive to heavy synthy fuzz. The rip knob does something with the harmonics that adds fuzzy goodness. And it came in a box.
