We are doing final tweaks on our 16 recorded songs for our upcoming TSC's LP - I met with Robert at Get Reel to get my bass better in the mix of Pauls instrumental "Fire In the Hole". Since we mic'd my B15N and d.i.'d it we were able to favor the clean d.i. signal to get more clarity. It finally sounds like the way I want to hear it. It's such a rockin' tune. :bassist:

Speaking of which...

The non-reverse got the VP pickups and it's almost like a new bass. Sounds a bit darker and chunkier than the VP (it has a bit older strings too). A comparison clips attached, pickup location picks here:

If I’m looking at the pics correctly, it looks like your NR bridge pickup is much closer to the neck than the VP pickup was, by almost a cm. That’s a pretty huge move for a bridge pickup and could certainly thicken things up on that pup.

The neck pickup locations on each bass aren’t as different. The NR looks to be about a half a cm closer to the neck which will make it a bit warmer as well but probably not as drastic as the bridge pup change.

You might want to experiment with some different string types. I’d imagine that bridge pup could be easily coaxed into a raging grind in that location.

I lived in the middle of nowhere on a mountain about 5 miles from Ward, Colorado from 1969 to 1974.

During that time I went to a K thru 12 school in Nederland, Colorado (a few miles from the famous Caribou Ranch recording studios). That was the 5th grade through 9th grade for me. The school bus stop was about 2 miles from my house and the bus ride to the nearest school, which was located at about a 9,000 ft elevation in Nederland, was about 20 miles each way.

When I was in the 8th grade they built a separate Jr/Sr high school, so we no longer had the K to 6th graders to contend with. A couple of months before I graduated the 9th grade my dad was transferred to San Jose, CA (he worked for IBM, which stands for “I’ve Been Moved”). So I finished the 9th grade and the rest of high school in San Jose.

Just did a quick check to see what enrollment at Nederland looks like these days, it’s about doubled since 1970 and is now at about a whopping 500 students total k-12.

When I transferred into Oak Grove High School in San Jose it was so over crowded (about 4000 students IIRC) they had to run on split sessions (9th & 10th grades were morning session and 11th & 12th grades were afternoon session). The following year half the students were moved to a new school (Santa Theresa High) so we dropped down to about a 2000 person school, still ten times the size school I was previously accustomed to.
Totally relate. My Dad worked for Convair in San Diego. Then Aerospace Corporation at Vandenberg. Aerospace wanted to move him to the Cape. And Colorado. Mom said hell no. Dad was the contract launch director at Vandenberg for 25 years until he retired. He could never tell us what he did. But I’m guessing it was some heavy stuff. He is still restricted from saying anything.

LOVE IT!
So when can we buy the LP or CD?

It really helps with train control which is all at the front, the railroad term is "distributed power units" or DPU's. With engines bunching the slack as the train moves thru sags and over hills they' re much less likely to "pull a knuckle" ( destroy a coupler). Thing is, there's only two guys on the whole train and there's been a push to reduce that to just a one man crew or automated, nothing but trouble if anything goes wrong.
those couplers give? damn!…so there’s some sort of brake that activates when a hose or cable is severed?..

Dig it! But why do you use an old amp when there are plenty of nice new amps to choose from?;):D

I for one am glad he did whatever it was he did.

Question for Chuck or anyone who wants to chime in: On Sundays we do a quick run through of the songs for that day just to make sure we're on the same page and what we worked on Wed still works. I put my Ampeg V-4BH in standby for a little over an hour till time to play. I always thought it would be better for the tubes to just stay warm. But, for that length of time would be be better for them to be off and warm back up? Doesn't seem right to me, but some of you know more of the technical reasons for which is best and can conform my practice or correct the thinking.

Thanks! It will be the first song on the LP. I'm anticipating at best later this year or early 2024. I will definitely let everyone know when I have product in hand! We'll do an LP and CD.

Gotta love Neil!

Neil's poetical sensitivities and spontaneous composing are amazing! Yep, ya gotta love Neil.
this guitarist used to boast over 100 hits of acid in his lifetime so….

I used to imbibe a bit myself. Owsley made it all he way to Massachusetts. I do really like Neil though.
