My son and daughter in law live in Koreatown in LA. It was dicy for a while, partially because their landlord decided to mine the tenants for cash instead of dealing with security problems. For a number of reasons, it's better in the building now, and they are going to stay put for a couple years while she finishes her degree. Then who knows where they will end up. She will have credentials to teach at the college level. He will not, but he's getting somewhat established as a musician in LA. He will have to figure it out if she gets a good job offer from a symphony or university or something somewhere else. They have a couple more years to figure it out. LA might be like a Norman Rockwell painting by then. Hey, it could happen.

And the moon could be chrome.

It is. They came in 4 string or 8 string and are tuned exactly the opposite of a bass (GDAE with the G string on the bass side of the fretboard and the E string on the treble side. The 8 string is tuned GGDDAAEE.

Perfect for a lefty.

I'm getting the impression you've spent a little more time than normal thinking about various kinds of torture. But you stopped short of anything to attract snakes, spiders and scorpions (which we don't have, as you know).

This isn't at home. There I would give one warning and tell them if they are ever gone I consider it abandoned and all belongings will premaritally disappear. Or I could skunk things up a bit.

And we already have way too many chiggers. Even after I spray regularly. They love me and never touch my wife.

Yep, Epiphone make them. Mandobirds I think they call them. Either 8 or 4 strings.

I have seen a MandoBird locally. Beats me what it would sound like, but I sure liked how it looked.

Mandolins and Violins are tuned the same I think. Not that it helps me, I don’t play either.

…might sound even cooler with an octave down pedal.

For me - the best part of attending a masterful performance is visually studying the participants and wondering about their individual lives. Maybe you don't feel that way, but ever since I first attended a classical symphonic performance - I can't stop but think about each player and what their life could be like. I am/was very close to two classical symphonic performers so I know both sides. It's what draws me to the arts/music - it's what's going on inside ones essence/spirit to do something creative - something above and beyond the ordinary.

The lead violinist is amazing! Damn I wish I could play with such accuracy, authority and deftness of expression!

It's cool and all, but possibly a cigar-box with rubber-band strings through effects would sound similarly cool. Just sayin'...

I was fine with just one for several years. Now I'm mostly fine with three. NRs mostly don't do much for me, but there are a couple owned by club members that call to me. Anf if someone gifted me a burgundy, I reckon I'd find a place to keep it.
