Hey I won something! SIT strings posted a naming contest for some new strings in beta mode, I was one of the 10 picked for a free set, if they use my name idea I get a years supply. Some of the other winners had multiple names submitted and I just submitted one. I wonder how that affects my chances?

Either way, the beta strings are only in 45-105 and I need some drop c strings, so they are sending me a custom set of SIT power steel, which I had been planning to buy from BSO soon.

They are going right on one of the tbirds, has anyone used those strings before? I tend to favor steel, but all I have in heavy gauge has been nickel.

If I add a 5th string do I get 20% more bass experience or does that only happen with flats?;)

Ha that was funny!

I won a set from them last year that I still haven't used. I think they've been going out of their way not to pick my amazing answers for more, and I won't be surprised if it's my name they end up using on the new strings so they don't have to pay out a year's supply.
;)

Honestly all I know about them is that David Ellefson has been using them for as far back as I can remember. He has a signature model Kelly Bird with Jackson, so they must be good strings.

Mike, just call them, the info is so new it's not on their website. I called the same day this info came to us and spoke with my sales guy, told him what it was and he got on it. I have a confirmed order for an Alpine White one.

Still no word back from the Australian importer. The more time the more I get to save gig money for buying them.
I am thinking maybe a black one AND a white one.

Were you one of the 10(11) winners of the free set this time? Since most strings are pretty awesome when uber fresh, it is hard to tell if strings are good based on endorsed artists, since they are typically using a fresh set of strings at each show, maybe every other show at most. I would play whatever if I had a free supply :)

Good thing you change strings daily, 365 sets!
well I haven't won yet, and technically the winner gets new strings for the rest of the year, my guess is 10 sets, one per month. All I know is I have one set of custom guage power steels coming. There are 10 other winners, and some of them had supplied several names, so my chances are probably 1 in 30. My hopes are not up very high. It would be nice though.
