I have a graphite acoustic electric bass from 1997 that has the original strings on it and has only been tuned a couple of times in the last 15 years.
It's a Rainsong bass that was originally custom built for John Entwistle and still has the string set he put on back in 1997. Rainsong only built a total of about 6 basses before they decided to focus completely on guitars. John's was the only one of the six that was built to custom specs. It holds its tuning unbelievably well, plays beautifully and looks stunning.
