I assumed the Degenerate pups were dual coil dual rails. As opposed to poles and rails. Just put a set of Bart dual coil dual rails in my FrankenGoth. They sound very good. If I had seen these first I would have gone with them. Oh well, there’s always another build on the horizon.Interesting idea, though. It's like P-rail humbuckers for guitars.
It wouldn't faze me a bit to buy a "Degenerate" model. But we have already established that I have no taste and no shame.
I can't find it now, but there was a youtube video I posted here a while back where I'm playing my EBO with old rounds. It just sounded like a bass, not particularly muddy.I have, Guess i need to revisit the idea.
speaking of cones….two 10” Markbass drivers on their way at 145.00/ea pre tax and shipping!…..I assumed the Degenerate pups were dual coil dual rails. As opposed to poles and rails. Chuck might like the split coil feature. In split mode on the bridge pickup you only get one blade (closest to the bridge) for some nice Jazz type honk, burb and quack. Drop it into humbucker mode and it’s a squeaky clean Tbird pickup, or boost the bass by 15db and blow the cones off the speakers. I put tapes on it so it’s even more unique sounding. I’m counting on Chuck to slap the snot out of it at the GTG.
I hear ya on the Jag, nice bass, but not a bird.Wow that is amazing!! I have a musicman and have thought how much i'd love a musicman pickup instead of the jazz on my jag bass... So this is a dream pu config for me right here! Plus John's input with the pre amp.. wow sounds like a dream bass for me personally! Though i do really, really, really, (really) REALLY like the T bird pu's more so!!!! (sorry jag bass)

In the 70's Gibson moved the pickup away from the neck, so that might be something to look at.

oh well…..was hoping we could all slap away…little lesson here….
incredible bass, Moon (MiJ) Larry Graham model….alloy fingerboard…..snappy..
you be the judge…..I’m not a slap guy at all, but that sure looks interesting.
Have you tried slapping a bass with tapes on it? Does it get too clacky?
Didn’t sound overly clacky, but definitely not as much zing as a metal string either. Not sure how it would sound in a mix with slapped tapes. Looking forward to seeing you give it a spin.you be the judge…..

AHEMThis club is such fun! No drama, just great discussions and humor.
Unlike the Warwick club at the moment where there’s a couple really strong minded individuals going at it about waxing their wood. I fully expect a rage quit before the day is over.

I had to go look and came upon this definitive statement:This club is such fun! No drama, just great discussions and humor.

Buy a weird upright bass? When a Cal grad and professor wins a Nobel Prize, what’s the first thing you do?

You are clearly one of the unwashed. Barbarian!I had to go look and came upon this definitive statement:
Nothing that is sold as furniture polish in hardware stores should ever touch a musical instrument.
I wonder what they would say about Brasso? It's sold as a metal polish!
Apparently I've been ruining musical instruments since 1980![]()
