Thunderbird Club

Did you do the "Buy it Now" option on eBay for this Pelham Blue TBird or did you get it somewhere else? Either way, congrats! If it's the eBay one that I had placed a bid on, then that explains it's disappearance within minutes of me getting top bid. There was about 5 days left on it when I bid and poof it was gone. :roflmao:

I made up for it though and I'll be posting pics soon. ;) :smug:

Shhh... don't say anything, @Mike A

I won't, but I'm giddy for ya, brother!!!

Kinda sorta. I pick the toneprint effect on the phone app, hold it over bass pickups (and bass is plugged into amp) and faster than you can say "Scotty, two to beam up," the chosen effect is active on my amp. I can then use amp control to dial in the desired level of said effect. But you probably knew that, didn't you (and now I seem like more of a dolt for explaining)?:banghead:

I have not tried using the computer to access/load their effects. There might be more options there, as I still can't find SCF on the phone app. It tends to list a ton of artists and their "cute" little nicknames for their blend of chorus or other effects. Darn it. I might actually have to go back and read the instruction manual.
Dolt for explaining it? Um, not really. I got no idea how what you just described works. I still think "effects" is what happens when you plug in a shiny box that I don't own anyway. I finally went wireless and use a ToneHammer and hpf, mostly for impedance matching, but partly for some minor tone shaping and boom/feedback control. My amp has a volume knob and a little bit of additional tone shaping.

The stone age is a fine place to be, and I like it here. Indoor plumbing and central heat? What's that???!!!

So Im going to be doing some re-wiring on my Bird. Epi Classic Pro (Gibson PUs). Getting some better pots mostly.
Anyway, I want to had some more controls to it. Passive only. Im assuming you cant do coil splitting on the Gibson TB+ so Im just going to do the series/parallel switch. Is there anything else I can do?

It's a haole. A pretty haole, but a haole nontheless. Lol.
I shouldn't have made this line of commentary on this poor kid. I have a volatile streak that goes southward once in a while. Apologies to the T-bird Club population, and to Miss Jenner.

Also haole is inappropriate anyway, that was a correct observation, whomever made it. I'm not even from Hawaii... but I was a haole once.

My attitude toward corporate seduction, etc remains the same, but she's not the problem.

Ok I'll be getting back to being my charming on-line presence once again....

Your posts suggest that you are a gear head and assumed that you were being playful about the phone being involved. The whole notion of sending a signal through your bass pickups to the "smart" amp or pedal, to choose an effect, is totally Star Trek. And if you buy one of their amps, it is sort of like having all of their pedals thrown in for good measure. Although, your ability to dial them all in is more limited than with having individual pedals.

Unless you are an all analogue kinda bass/guitar player, you should give one a try.

Yeah, I have to thank @Haji for prompting me to load the SCF flanger toneprint. Had a play with it last night and it's pretty cool. Now the Corona is three pedals in one, a standard chorus, a tri-chorus and a flanger.

Their reverb pedals -- Hall of Fame, Trinity -- have the same guts, just different built in toneprints, ie the Trinity has more ambient, warbly patches than the HoF.

Add to that the ability to tweak parameters in MacOS or Windoze -- including the option to customise controls -- and upload toneprints to a pedal or TC bass amp in a simple and intuitive fashion, TC kit is really fantastically clever and innovative.

You can turn a rectangular Epi Reverse TBird case into an NR case by peeling back the fur and flipping the foam. I did it after Rob figured it out.

Yes, that's the sort of thing I'll end up doing (and thanks for the photo confirmation).

@TBird1958 or anyone else with one of the Greco Birds, do you have any issues with your pickups being microphonic? When I turn my amp up past 5, it squeals like a pig when not being played (even with hands on the strings), and when playing you can hear the ringing and edge of squeal start to creep in. Even if I turn my treble control all the way off on the amp. I can also talk into it and you can hear it coming out of the amp.

At Skara Brae in the Orkneys the Neolithic residents had indoor fire pits and (a form of) flush toilets. Not a lot of privacy when your long drop is in the corner of the living room but standards were different in them days. Not sure if they kept all their pedal boxes or not, the archaeological evidence is inconclusive.

Don't the Daleks come from Skara Brae?

ThunderBucker and I took one of those apart about 6 years ago, it was in my Orville by Gibson. It appeared to not be potted, so it's not surprising you have a microphonic one. The large diameter wire and huge ceramic magnets don't help either. That's a high gain sucker!

You live by the sword...

Dylan,
I'll try to see what happens when I do that and report back.

Hopeless gear head. I really like weird stuff. Look up Morley Rotating Wah for and example. I thought bowing the upright through it would be great. It wasn't. Not all ideas are good, but that thing is fantastic for what it is good for.

I like 'oil can' fx ... but not on bass. An HPF looks kinda interesting but I have enough pedals already.

I see plenty of open space on that board.

Less is more ... or Leslie is Morley or something.

Honestly can't think of anything else that's needed. I'm not Bootsy therefore no wah/filters are required, I'm not into reverb or delay, and I have all the dirt I could want courtesy of my amp (or the VT should I be going into solid state amplification).

@Stevis - The Morley pedals were always big. That pedal has a drum full of a really toxic oil which is probably no longer legal to buy/sell. And yeah, heavier than a lot of Class D amps....

Update: More here Mondo Morley Medicale: RWV Rotating Wah – Doktor Ross Sewage
