63 is the original Reverse clone. 66 is hotter, it's a clone of the NR spec. 'S' is currently the hottest Steve winds. It's the closest to the Greco pickup in output but the magnets are Alnico and there's a lot more wire in it for a smoother sound.

What would you recommend for a two pickup instrument? A 66N and 66B set? Or a pair of the 66S? I have two 'Bridge' pups in the Epi Bird and thinking about Thunderbuckers some time in the future.

A 63 neck 66 bridge is my preference...but what do I know? I firmly believe pedals are for bicycles.

Okay here's a live-action, only somewhat compromising vid of a band I joined up with a couple months ago. Featuring my "Slee-Stacking" (H.R. Puff-n-Stuff reference for you over-50 crowd) around with the stealthy 'Bird.
Pardon the la-las... lol.

Wow. Didn't expect to hear that. Thanks! (I am pretty happy with my Blackbird... thx again there)

Actually it was a good day- from around 11 am to 5:30, Plan 9 rehearsed at a local studio getting old material up to par, then it was off from there for a 6:30 load-in for this gig. I could do that every day!

@godofthunder59 didn't mean to step in on your Thunder with my noisy post! I just wanted to prove I actually play my Bird!

Nice sounds there, from my little phone speaker I can here what seems to be a nicely place bass in your mix. Gotta bring some headphones to the local library and give a few things a listen this week.

The 'S' is the new MAX. Steve got tired stuffing all that wire into that small package and we agreed it was overkill, they have twice the output of a 66 (+3 db). I originally wanted to call it the 666, Steve said he didn't want to upset religious zealots. They won't be coming back, smoke 'em if you got 'em!

I'm listening it w/headphones and I would still like the bass with a bit more present in the mix.., but maybe I'm bias... :rolleyes:
