Thunderbird Club

That Dio story needs to be disclosed.. It will stay with us. :)
Short version. June of ‘84. My friends arranged to have the VIP room at a popular LA club. We get there and after 30 minutes or so are told sorry, but we have to move you. They moved us to some tables in the back of the main room. The service sucked. The “talent” ignored us. So we ended up leaving after about 45 more minutes. Come to find out that Ronnie and his entourage arrived, with no reservations, and took over the VIP room. Shortest bachelor party in history.

I wonder of Dio knew that happened or the venue just switched things around behind the scenes.

Ugh. That's on the club. I don't care who showed up or what they offered, that was a jerk move on the club's part. (I know you know that.)

There's a story there for another day, but trust me, within ~7 months, she wouldn't have cared.

OK, I have time after all. We started dating shortly after that. I was in 11th grade, she was in 10th. By April, she was hinting at marriage. By early May she was talking seriously about us both dropping out of school and getting married. She started pushing, and when it was clear she wasn't taking no for an answer, I called it quits as nicely as I knew how. Within a few days her friends were calling me and sending notes via mutual friends saying she was suicidal and it was all my fault. My friends helped keep me in a good headspace, but it still sucked. Late July (I think) I hadn't heard anything in a month so I chanced riding by on my motorcycle. When I got there she was walking to a hopped up Mustang with a fierce, redneck looking guy who clearly wanted to know who I was and what I wanted. (I was by now dressing like a hippie and obviously looking for her.) She introduced me as "a friend" and him as her "new husband; we got married last week." "Cool. I just wanted to drop by and say hi. Looks like y'all are going somewhere, so I won't keep you." I rode off.

Never heard from or of her again. I can't recall her last name. Her family was impoverished, she was expected to take care of her several younger siblings and the house, and her parents were miserable and shared it. I felt bad for her but wasn't about to drop out of school to get married. She found her ticket out and I was history, and that's OK. I hope her life improved and she found happiness. I have to admit, the obvious jealousy and anger on her new husband's face didn't impress me. 8^(

Can’t like, except your escape.

Have you checked with GHS?

I have 50-115 Boomers on my black VP tuned to Eb and drop Db and it’s working out pretty good, likely to stay with those on that.

Might try 55-75-95-120 black beauties on my ‘01 Gibson for D-standard/Drop C. Being round core, they may be a bit less stiff feeling…

It's not that I don't like the Dio era Sabbath, but it's never caught me like the first 5 albums.

I would agree. Although I enjoyed Dio-era Sabbath, it wasn't quite the same. I did see that lineup in Nashville on the Mob Rules tour and it was a very good show.

Well, if it's any consolation, you can still tell the story...
I gots nuthin' against the guy, but I don't 'get' the adulation he receives.
