@Stealth57 did me a solid and picked this up for me from a San Francisco Bay Area seller a couple months ago. I finally picked it up from him at the GTG.

2005 Gibson Studio. It has a Badass II bridge instead of the Gibson high mass bridge it originally came with (they did not use the three point on the Studio). Other differences include the narrow headstock and a slab (no belly cut) body. It is a set neck, not a neck though. TBird+ pickups. It has been played. The body shows some wear and crazing, but no exposed wood. The fretboard is dry and a little dirty, and the frets need a good clean and polish. When I do that, I’ll check for wear, high or loose frets etc. Nice properly finished fretwork with no sprout. The strings are very dead. It will be getting 50-105 SIT Power Steels. I classify it as being in good condition. The setup is a freaking mess. It’ll get my MCF Custom Setup (TM pending) over the next few days.

The Gibson case is also in good condition. Except the seller didn’t know the lock combo so he cut the prongs on the latch. I’ll worry about that later. Actually much later. I’ll file that project as one to be done at @Gaolee speed.

The only other thing to mention at this point is that it has obviously sat in a closet the last years. So I have rectify a subtle musty smell.

It’s a great bass that I got for an excellent price. I’m pleased. Here she is. More pics will come as I get into the cleaning and setup process.

There are a number of "tricks" people use to deal with smell (as you well know). Sunlight really seems to help for cases, but never had anything work quickly. You might want to pull the pickups. My old Embassy had a funky smell when I got it and found some mold living in/around the foam for the pickups. I scrapped all that out of the cavity and from the pickups and used some bleach (yes I did!), to kill anything remaining. Likely better options, but that was what had on hand and I wanted to address it ASAP. I'm guessing the last person sweated into the cavities?? That was a new one for me.

Thanks, Donnie. It’s not real bad; only slightly noticeable. But checking under the pickups can’t hurt.

Some picture from Friday evening, Frank and I left Seattle at 2:00AM and got into Hollister about 4:30, pretty good trip, used I-5 all the way except for the last 40 miles or so. The Holiday Inn is very nice, our room was new and very tidy, plus they had some carts on hand that made moving the basses super easy and safe, will definitely stay there again.

Just a couple from Friday.

You could likely go, but...the Portuguese are apparently not happy with all the people from California moving there. It's a hugely popular destination for those living in Cal for some reason more so than other states and country destinations. Same weather as mid-California maybe?
