Different kind of Bronco, but who knows. It's Gen 1 (one before that?), that seems to be the more recent fancy. But for a while people were wanting the later version like OJ was in. Can't figure that one either.

Infamous historical cars : the "OJ Bronco", "the Kennedy convertible" ... and then there's the Porsche 550 Spyder -

Excellent build! Very cool pickup, bet it sounds huge in that mahogany body. Haven’t had a chance to try out a roasted maple neck yet, but I hear they feel and look great. Enjoy the new bass.

I really like the look of that! Is the roasted maple always finished in satin? Seems like all the ones I’ve seen are that way.

Love the finish on that one! Sparkle always adds a neat look to a bass. Is that a nordstrand pickup?

Orange sparkle! What a great color, don’t see it on basses very often, but goes perfect with the black pups and guard. And chrome hardware tastefully added so as not to over do the look. I have played an RD bass (heavy moose) but never a Disco bass.

The Discobas only visually alludes tp the RD - very simple (VV) and light weight. Dark, thumpy tone/sound.

I'm finishing a Harmony guitar I made for our guitarist in OSHA orange which is a bit more vibrant. I like the way it looks as-is, but he wants it finished. It'll look cool orange.

I just wanted to pop this in here for those interested. @GBassNorth

It’s not totally finished, still dialing in pickup height, intonation and stuff. But it’s together and it’s really fun, very authoritative. I had this pickup (Dark Star) in a Squier Precision and it just sounds bigger here, idk.

It feels and looks to me like a ‘70’s workhorse type of bass, lol.


Shout out to Rosser for the body. Everything went smoothly, neck holes matched up.

Warmoth for the neck, roasted maple is my new crush, lol, so smooth.

Hipshot hardware. Love the tuners, licensed. Weird thing about the bridge is I can’t get my .050 hex key to work. That’s what Hipshot says to use.

Guard came from a dude in Idaho on Reverb, blank.

Knobs are cheapo that I buy from Tayda or something when I build pedals.

Schaller strap locks.

When it get all dialed in I’ll put on a new set of strings and take it outside for a proper photo shoot.

Yeah, I don’t get it either.

When I was in Jr High in the mountains of Colorado, my parents had a Bronco (1970?) and we did a bunch of four wheeling with it, but it was hard pressed to keep up with the Jeeps of the day off road. Dad traded it in for a K5 Blazer in 1972. As long as the trail didn’t get too narrow the K5 was right at home with the Jeep CJ5’s.

If the vintage car market gets soft I’d expect the old Broncos to be one of the first casualties. Folks that have paid north of $60,000 for them might be hard pressed to get half that back in a sale. The K5 has gone up too but not as stupid high as the Broncos. I’d pay $30,000 for a nice K5 in the right condition. And then there’s the old Defender 90’s. I’d grab one of those in the the $30,000 bracket in the right condition.

edit: hadn’t checked blazer prices in a couple of years, they got stupid expensive too apparently…
