We were a basic top-40 cover band (guitar, keys, bass, drums) playing the popular songs then; CCR (a few), I'm Your Captain (GFR), America Woman (The Guess Who), Make It With You (Bread), Ride Captain Ride (Blue Image), All Right Now (Free), to name a few. The keyboardist/singer was the BL - he had a deluxe Vox Continental keyboard.

OK, I lowered the SD neck pickup almost to the ring and raised the bridge pickup a bit. I don't hear distortion in the recording (only recorded the SD versions) now but would appreciate any feedback on any further adjustments you all might suggest.
Those are great sounding amps. At least from what I remember 20 years ago.I need one of these..............

I think this dinosaur is made from Bakelite, I wrapped the tape around it 20+ years ago to keep the case together. I think my dad bought it new some time in the '60's, or maybe he got it from his dad.
It gets HOT and it gets there FAST. I think the lights dim in the house when I pull the trigger.

Sounds like the distortion is pretty much gone now. I'm hearing a big jump in volume when the treble portion of each demo runs, I don't know if that's intended or not since there's no pickup or setting info displayed on the video. But generally speaking, once you've got your neck pickup height set where you want it you should raise or lower the bridge pickup to roughly match the volume of the neck pickup when set at the same volume level.
The settings were:
Neck 10, Bridge 0, Tone 0
Neck 10, Bridge 0, Tone 10
Neck 0, Bridge 10, Tone 0
Neck 0, Bridge 10, Tone 10
Neck 10, Bridge 10, Tone 0
Neck 10, Bridge 10, Tone 10
The increased volume in the even numbered clips is a function of the annoying Epiphone issue of the tone pot affecting volume. My one Gibson doesn't do that but all my Epis do.

Those are great amps
yes, the exact opposite from your 550 in that it's ss preamp, vt output……they are also the only instrument amp (that I know off) that runs in class B making them very loud using less tubes…
EQ is always on. Comp is on 99% of the time. Volume pedal and other effects as needed.
