LOL - and just in case people think that's a staged photo, here's a legit one I took at a Porsche event in LA a few years ago…
BTW - that's probably a $250,000 coffee table these guys are eating at.
That is such a train wreck of a photo - I'm horrified as I look at it yet too transfixed by it to turn away. These are the same people that use Pappy 23 to make old fashioned's . . .
SoCal is packed with TrustFund Babies that have never had to work a day in their life. The money typically comes from grandparents that bought property in LA back in the 50's and earlier then sat on it and rented it out as income producing property. The Grandparents willed the property or a percentage of the income produced by the property to their kids in the form of a trust to avoid a lot of taxes and now the parents are doing the same for their kids. One of my friends (in his 60's now) has never had to work a day in his life and is handed a $50,000 check each month from his trust fund lawyer (who I'm sure is also making a pretty penny). The funny thing is, he blows through that $50,000 every single month and has to frequently go back to the trust for an advance payment. He buys new Porsches and Ferrari sports cars more often than I buy new socks. Go figure.
Not a bass player, but RIP. Hope there is tequila in the afterlife.

I've got a question for anyone that's rewired the controls on their Thunderbird. The stock Gibson control layout is neck volume, bridge volume, and tone. Has anyone changed that to master volume, pickup blend, and tone? What did you like/dislike about the mod?

On the electrical question on whether the outlet or box was grounded.
Next will be using the extension cord to test the ground ohms at the amp and then using it to ground the chassis to a copper pipe.

Checked the amp outlet ground to a copper pipe using an extension cord. Made sure I had continuity from the end to the copper pipe. Reading bounced around but settled around 4ohms.
Grounded the chassis on the 200S and no change.
Next up is the $500 Furman. Fortunately, only had to pay $220 and it's returnable. It has a long cord, so will check on multiple outlets.

Never tried a set, but the demos sound great! May have to try a set on my next build.
I haven't modded any of my Tbirds to vol/blend/tone mostly because I'm not a fan of most blend layouts, which typically have a noticeable volume drop and tone change at center detent.
I did just recently design and install a volume/tone stack layout for each pickup in a three pickup Tbird build for a total of three stacks. Works absolutely fantastic! Huge tonal range available on that bass. The downside is tone and volume changes are not as fast as most would typically like for a live gigging situation, but great for studio work. As a follow up I'm currently building a two pickup Tbird with a dedicated volume/tone stack for each pickup but it will have a master volume knob to make it a bit more gig friendly.
Id like to hear about this too. I've done it a lot to many of my Fenders (Jazz and double P), and despite what people say, it seems to work great, at least the wiring I do, which is a Seymour Duncan schematic. I will say the blend is only useful a touch off center either way, and as a pickup kill when dimed one way or the other, but I like having a single volume.
Does anyone here have both Thunderbucker 66s and Probucker 760s? Curious how you feel the tone compares. Bonus points if you can also work the "vintage" Gibson NR pickups in there.
