I am a bass player from Serbia (former Yugoslavia), I play Epiphone Thunderbird classic IV with Gibson TB+ humbuckers, I use Elixir stainless steel 45-105 strings, I'm very satisfied with the sound because it's a bass that I really like to play.

Early(premature?)report on the new medium tension EBCFs(2814): I've only played them/it through my practice amp*, but so far I'm digging them. E and A have a bit more clarity and I'm able to roll off some 'highs' and still get the 60s tone I want. Lessee how long they last.

Asking for a friend (!):
Does any simply leave the original bolts in the holes on 3-point bridge conversions to 2-point and not bother filling the holes? Is it not poss to simply wind them in snug and leave them or is there a structural issue with the new holes being so close? On this one (love the colour!) it looks like the new bridge was actually installed a little bit more rearward than need be what with the intonation positions of the saddles, so the new holes could be a little bit further away from the original ones - I'm just thinking, sorry, my friend is just thinking ( ;-⁠) ) that could be a lovely, lazy route to take?

Mine might be a good example of what your idea might look like. Once all said and done. Although it won’t completely be the lazy route.

Do you feel a difference in the white vs burst VP necks?

No, not that I have ever noticed. Odd considering white paint is thicker than stain on the neck. Which actually would seem to be true--but not at anything noticeable with the human hand. To my hands they do feel the same. The '06 and the '64 do as well. Both basses feel the same other than the '64 has a worn feel. Gibson did a great job on matching the feel.

@MCF My cousin's '72 Fury had a 360. My uncle (not his dad) had a great looking '71 New Port. Looked exactly like this, but more of a Pelham Blue. Never saw my aunt on top.

enormous and gorgeous. I’d love the have a small collection of cool old late ‘60’s and very early ‘70’s cars with a few random monster 2 door beasts like this. Can you believe people owned these behemoths and lived in places like San Francisco or NYC. I’ve lived in SF and while plenty of homes and apartment buildings have garages, virtually none of them could house something like this. The entirety of the Sunset and Richmond Districts (predominantly single family homes) have no garages where this would fit and if so, you wouldn’t be able to open the door.
