I don't do any programming nor do I wish to but I do swap drives and upgrade memory if necessary. Which is only a little more difficult than changing a light bulb. I've never had a problem with peripherals or software that I couldn't fix and I have zero computer tech experience. Just the ability to read instructions and use the internet to find solutions.

You'd be surprised (or maybe not) how many people regard upgrading memory or swapping HDDs to be one step above necromancy.

I got over fiddling with hardware a long time ago - code is where it's at for me. [Update:] That's not meant to sound dismissive ... just 'IT' is how I've put food on the table for the past 20 years.

We have one computer, this iPad, a RAID storage box + offline HDD (to be sure to be sure) and a 100 x 150 dye sub photo printer and no cable clutter.

I've never had a printer live longer than a couple years since about 2010. And, when the ink runs out, I can get a new one on sale for less than the cost of the ink cartridges.

I rarely print, my decal stuff gets done at the print shop on their laser printer. I buy refilled carts when necessary.

This. While troubleshooting an issue on one of my Linux servers, someone suggested its uptime of 244 days as a possible issue. I take exception to that.

Back to Thunderbirds, is there any effect on sound from pickup height other than its relation/proximity to the strings?

On another Thunderbird note, I did some looking around and everything I've read says that Gibson stopped using ebony fretboards on TBirds in the 90's can anyone confirm this?

I assumed that it sits over the insert and is notched to allow the bridge to sit flush to the body without having to remove the insert.

And upon taking delivery and installing the Supertone I can confirm the above is the case.

By "insert", do you mean the ferrule? I don't remember it sitting above the surface, but then again my memory is terrible.

I mean the threaded inserts for anchoring the bridge. On the Epiphones they have a flanged top that sits above the body. I'm not sure if the Gibsons are the same or if the inserts sit flush or are recessed.

The Gibson inserts sit just below the surface from the way they look on mine.
