Thunderbird Club

I mostly only played rhythm guitar. If the rhythms were simple, I could sing. Singing and playing complex rhythms or lead was beyond me. I haven't seriously tried to sing and play bass. Of course, teh way allergies have done my voice for some years now, there's not much point, anyway...
I have an awful singing voice, but twice I've sung and played bass live successfully. Sort of a proof of concept for myself that I could do it. So I have that going for me.

You would be surprised at how powerful a small kick drum can sound. I have a little Ludwig Breakbeats kit and the 16" kick drum is an absolute cannon. It's pretty surprising how big it can sound with the right heads and the right tuning.
Well, apparently almost no one does that.

I knew a zen-like fellow motorcyclist who said there was (to him) no such thing as an accident, that if one was 100% present the things we call accidents wouldn't occur. I understand his logic but being 100% 100% of the time would be, lets say... very difficult unless meditating full time on top of a mountain.

Yep. You can’t function constantly at that level without burning out or freaking out at some point. And his thesis doesn’t nullify the existence of accidents; it just helps explain them.

Tube Tuesday.
The C6A tubes are Xenon-filled modulators for radar, typically acting like switches to turn the radar transmission on or off (pulsing). You could make one heck of a clipping fuzz with these. And maybe get fried by X-rays. Some radar operators got x-ray damage from thyratrons. Not sure whether that applies to these.
I couldn’t see identifying marks on the smaller tubes.
On the battleship USS North Carolina. Fuses, fuses, everywhere.

I agree. As much as awareness can help prevent being involved in an accident, I personally believe in "X marks the spot" freak accidents. I've seen many of them. Solo accidents may be more preventable, but in the cases of A vs B accidents - 'A' might be aware but 'B' will cause/be responsible for the accident. As an example - a squirrel running into your bicycle front wheel, causing you to crash. No way to get around that and obviously the squirrel's "fault". (seen pics - it's not pretty) I once had a squirrel (luckily) bounce off my front wheel after running into it at speed. Then there's deers and motorcycles... (don't get me started)

It's called being "torpedo'd" by a squirrel...

I don't have a terrible voice, it's good enough for the music in my band. Which, years ago, i never thought i'd be the lead singer (though am trying to shift & share vocal duties with a guitarist in my band since he also has a good voice). Though it challenged me on a more social anxious barrier breaking, i do play & write basslines differently to either match, or go against my vocal lines. All while grooving, & having fun.

I can't sing live without playing bass or guitar (acoustic guitar in an unplugged session). Just feels weird not holding & playing a rhythm.

I can imagine.

I've heard really good guitar players say it's easier to play guitar and sing than play bass and sing. I can't really do either, so I don't know. But it was something about strumming was generally normal rhythm and bass often plays things in between the normal beats and is often less predictable. Not exactly how I've heard it worded, but something like that. May not even be true. But I can't imagine playing what GL does and having to sing on top of that. Incredible.
Playing rhythm guitar is easier than playing bass. Lead is another matter.

some peeples could shag up a poopie sammich....
I get very depressed and angry when I see sellers trying to pull crap like this. Sure, the seller didn’t butcher it. And if the electronics are original, I’d consider it as a parts donor. But not for anything close to that price. And the seller didn’t pay anything close to that for it. What a ripoff.

It did look much better before they sanded the flying shag out of it
