As for Hot Chocolate, they were one of the few UK bands that funked and also had a rocky edge to them back then, and a hell of a singer!

Big hit here in the states.

Which reminded me of a video we watched the other day that answered the biggest question in the universe: Why to people from the UK and Commonwealths sing with an American accent and generally with a Southern flavor. His answer made sense.

I've always wondered that, too. His answer seems to explain some of it, but there are British acts that should have more influence here if so.

just geek stuff….comparing 12AX7s driving 6L6s to 6L6s driving 6550s is like comparing small blocks to big blocks…..purely “bigger is better” engineering testosterone hence my CID analogy…..it can be safely said that in tube amps, more tube displacement (physical volume) can/should equate to more hoooomph……wish I liked them more for live bass….

A few months ago, Who's That's first show with our new drummer. Rather disappointing turn out but I'm relatively pleased with the performance.

Love the mix. I can hear the bass just fine on my iphone.

I love it. That's pretty par for the sound of a lot of HC recordings from back then. I think it's part of the sound of the genre.

We're going for that raw live sound. We'll be recording "live" all in one room. Everyone mic'ed and on separate channels of course to be able to mix levels later.

We're pretty much all in agreement that making it too clean and studio perfect will ruin the feel of what is supposed to be.

Thanks! I'm just happy the cassette survived. There's a Vancouver compilation somewhere out there that has us on it, but the sound quality is far worse.

I prefer any music to be live off the floor. With my current recording project we are recording isolated tracks, but all playing together in the room and we are only fixing obvious clams. And there will be overdubs on some of the tunes.

Yep. Progressives allowed me to put it off until now. I only have one good eye. So I was encouraged to put it off for about twenty years to get the best procedure available when it was time.

slow transient response, low damping factor, AC coupling causing the OT to bandpass when driven hard, those sorta things….
