For my cover band gigs, we usually supply the PA, but we have a soundman take care of it. I'd rather make a bit less money and not have that stuff to think about.Yeah, I get it. Our gigging-and gear-situations are very different. For example, if we're using my PA rig, it'll take me a minimum of 4 trips, using a cart, to get all* my [stuff] into the venue. Even if we use the guitarist's PA, it'll still take ~3.
*trip 1-PA(JBL EON ONE)**, powered mixer(Yamaha EMX512), table(folding)for mixer; trip 2-bass amp, duffel w/ mic, cables, other accessories; trip 3-mic stand, music stand(hafta read some [stuff]), amp stand, CD player/CDs (for break music)in small bag; trip 4-Stool(doesn't fold)cos my knees won't hold up for 3 hours.
Except for one, all of our gigs are at least 6 miles from the house. We have no public transit to speak of and, as I've said, no place in this area has backline or PA.

The last time we hauled a PA was 12/6/2014, never again.
Last weekend Jeff and I were playing around with some bass stuff (along with some pizza with anchovies, beer, and bourbon). I had to adjust the truss rod and for some reason the G string's core wire snapped when I loosened the tuner. The strings I had in my bag were the last set of the La Bella Stainless Steel (FKA Hard Rockin' Steel), so I put them on. They sound similar enough to the Power Steels, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they're lower tension, meaning I much prefer the feel of the Power Steels. I contacted SIT on Monday about the string since they were a pretty newly-installed set. Today I received a replacement string. Those guys are great. Nonetheless, I was happy to have a last hurrah with my previous favorite strings. I even used them for the show we played on Wednesday. But today I put back on the Power Steels.
Tempting fate once again and trying out a set of the black-box Dunlops I love on the BC Rich. I hope I don't prefer them because they don't make 50-105 sets, even though they do make 50 and 70 in other sets.
PS: if anyone wants the 128 B string from this La Bella set, I'm happy to send it to you. I only play 4-string and this was sold to me for the same price as a 4-string set because the strings were discontinued and this was all that was left.

New pickguard on the Orville. The bird is a little oversized. I think I'll change it to stock next time I cut some.

Dive down a rabbit hole at your leisure Mike. There are basically three incarnations (well 3 1/2). A favorite of mine since about '68. Like I said, they were huge on the Central Coast here. The Santa Barbara FM station had them in the rotation regularly. They played the County Bowl a lot before the classic albums came about in '75/'76 (Fleetwood Mac and Roumors).
Christine was awesome. And so is Stevie.
if you're into Americana at all, listen to the entire Tusk album. I've always said that album was a harbinger of a genre the hadn't been recognized yet.

Yesterday was NBD for me. This one's a bit more beat up than the burst I bought from @dukeorock but it plays great, sounds great, and is RED!
The truss rod needs a bigger allen wrench than the Epis. I think it's a 5mm; I used a 3/16" (my metrics having wandered off with someone) which worked but was a bit loose. (Willy's action was low even for me.)
I had to raise the neck pickup because the rubber foam was unexpandable- 4 slices of index card did the trick.
It sounds different than the other Greco but has different flats on it. Purple silks, tho! Came with a case, three (!) leather straps, and a pair of socks. @WillyW is a pleasure to do business with. Pink Floyd (Echoes live at Pompeii), Cream, SSPU, my own stuff, it worked for everything. Happy camper.

Looks like a fantastic cab. I always wanted to try one but never had the opportunity.
The PF 50T has always been on interest to me. Tube warmth, but without the size and weight of 100 or more watts. Someone here has one and speaks highly of it. Willy maybe?? The Genzler Magellen 350 seems interesting. Would likely be kind of transparent I would think. Heck, the Peavey Mini Max seems interesting as well. Then there is this. It has to sound good for a nice warm tone. I believe some guy out your way has one and he seems to do alright with it.

We used to have a couple PA cabs kind of similar in style to this but seemed much bigger. The horns were huge and sat on top, then a row of tweeters on top of that. Monster cabs. I don't miss loading/unloading/loading one bit. The cab below would have been very welcome.The last time we hauled a PA was 12/6/2014, never again.
Excellent!! I corresponded with Willy about it some months back but at the end of the day decided what I really wanted was one from the seventies. Knowing Willy, I imagine it is a great player.
White Camry's are very popular with the FL retiree contingent. A running gag here is to go to a place that has valet parking and switch all the Camry keys on the hooks at the valet stand.
