I had the matching can opener for years. The plastic broke in a couple places, but the thing just kept running. My wife finally got sick of it.Sad casualty this year…. I don’t know if we will ever recover…. Motor bearing gone… but not forgotten….

I don't recall hearing this. But libraries are full of things I don't know.& correct me if i'm wrong, but 76-79 birds were also wired in series, as opposed to the parallel of 60s bird VIs & 87-present birds.
Yeah, definitely a slightly different sound.Yeah, but I can usually tell the difference in sound.
Never fear. The new ones will last 13 to 20 months instead of 13 to 20 years.Sad casualty this year…. I don’t know if we will ever recover…. Motor bearing gone… but not forgotten….

Well, for me that might be a lifetime.Never fear. The new ones will last 13 to 20 months instead of 13 to 20 years.
One of those things that's hard to describe, but ya know it when ya hear it. Sorta like a J on bridge pup.Yeah, definitely a slightly different sound.
There is solid state and then there is ACC solid state. I suspect that the magic is in the transformers and enormous capacitors. But I don't have a real way to know.Picked up a minty Acoustic 150b for my brother for Christmas (so I can get my Sunn 200s back that was on loan). And damnit, now I need to find another minty one, because it sounds fantastic! Really great sound from just the treble and bass controls, and especially with the bright switch flicked, really brings the crunch and attack.

My head really likes anywhere near saltwater.I don't miss that part of spring, summer, and fall in Ohio and on the East Coast. My head was happier in the western Carolina hills for some reason. My head really likes the West Coast.
