...on my '64 II -


It's a cool finish - very unique for Gibson or Epiphone. I've posted my preferred way to strap-on a bird here before - I play it at a more standard 45degree angle but ride the top part of the body at my right hip. That brings 1st position to a comfortable reach/position.

An old pic but demonstrates my tact. I also loop the strap in front of the lower bout which pulls it into my body and eliminates any tendency to neck-dive. I did it for so many years playing my '64 II - I ride all my basses like that now!

That's about how I'm wearing it too. With the body over my hip, and the neck up.

Good luck finding it and it ain't cheap. I think of it as a desert at that price, but it's not all that sweet. The initial bouquet is lively, but not overpowering to the olfactory nerve; once tasted, it blossoms and the profusion of plenteous flavors excite the palate, leaving your taste buds wanting a cigarette. (OK, none of this is true. I just like making fun of professional food and drink connoisseurs who seem to be in competition to outdo each other with creative adjectival usage. And I didn't even use terms like nutty or smokey.)

Likely have to go to a local Cuban grocery, which is often attached to a small Cuban restaurant.

is there a cuban community in that area? was surprised to find the best cuban sandwich (better than PR) in Seattle of all places at this joint……

Might be a decent Cuban size population there. There certainly is here. The best places are small like in your pic.

Is that the place on Fremont Avenue or the one on Aurora Avenue? I haven't been over to either for a while. That needs to be remedied. There's a fair amount of really good Caribbean food around here. I don't know why, but I'm sure not complaining. Pam's Kitchen is around the corner from my house, and it's really good Trinidadian food. It's a favorite for my wife and me.

This is great Cuban soft drink. Reminds a little of Dr. Pepper with some citrusy flavor. I'm not crazy about Dr. Pepper but love this stuff. Made in S.FL now I believe. I was told at some point a worker or someone connected with the company escaped the people's paradise and started making it here.

In the mid 70s, I could but Jupin~a at a local Cuban store in Atlanta at very reasonable prices. Loved that stuff.

Hello all- I have my first Thunderbird on the way and wanted some suggestions on gig bags.

Some suggested much earlier in the thread the Gator Pro Go- does that still stand?

Also is it the standard one or a special model? I ask because they currently list only one single bass bag, and a double bass bag-

There is a rare short scale that @MCF has. Tough to find.
