Another one! Ground beef (US) vs Mince (AUS)

yeah, our Aussie bolognese probably isn’t authentic :laugh:
Most household bolognese I’ve had are (guessing) mince, onion, garlic, tomato paste, skinned tomatoes. Some add extra veggies like shredded or diced carrots but thats not usual.

BTW spaghetti bolognese (or “spag bol” in Aussie speak) is a staple. Probably the most popular dish in the country. I reckon one would be made every week in every household.

They're so cool! Not really the right bass for my band.....
But, I'd love to have one all the same.
I'll always love this vid of Free, what an amazing band, the sound, the space between the notes! Andy Fraser is like all of 17-18 years playing this, yeah, an EB-3 and some Marshalls! It was music like this that really made me want to play the bass (even if I don't play like this).


Bass player writes the song and it at least 50 seconds before he even plays a note, dig that big, woofy tone!

I was definitely influenced by Free and Andy Fraser to gravitate towards an EB-3 but it really started when I saw this new band called Spiders from Mars with a crazy lead Cat named Ziggy Stardust. His Bass player, Trevor Bolder, played a walnut, slotted EB-3 and along with his sideburns he and his bass blew me away.
I was now on a mission to find that Bass! I eventually found my walnut slotted ‘71 EB-3 in almost perfect condition at a local Pawn shop. $175 with HSC.
I was currently playing a Fender PJ bass and that EB-3 felt super light and fast like an electric guitar. Plus my Brother played a ‘64 Matching Gibson SG.
It brought a balanced stage look to our 3 piece band. I used a Fender 18” double folded reflex cab and another with two 15” black widow speakers in a 2nd cab.
That’s 48 inches of bone rattling, air moving bass with a Mudbucker!
You felt it more than heard it and I became SubHuman. Ha!

And I wonder why I have tinnitus!

The Skynyrd/Who concert for me- Leon and the Ox both played Birds. It was years before I switched from guitar to bass but when I did, I went straight for a Bird. Haven’t looked back.

My family had something kind of similar. How far back it goes I'm not sure, but spaghettini, tomato sauce, spices, and fried and crumbled hamburger were mixed together. It was called...."Italian Spaghettini!" I liked it until ingredient’s changed or mom forgot how to fix it. I always thought it an odd name--wasn't all such spaghetti and sauce "Italian"??? I'm guessing it was my Dutch grandmother's (maybe her mother and further on back?) way of having something kind of like Italian food when the real thing was nowhere to be found--or how to fix it.
