Wow, I remember Guadalcanal Diary. I have that album 2x4. I don't really know much Let's Active, but I really liked Snatches of Pink.
Already have a tortoiseshell PG one of my Squires. One is enough...Maybe get a tort one to fit in with the general population.

They are completely different. They are a bit like piezo pickups in that they don't color the sound much, but they are also like a cross between P90s and 7ender single coils if you use them on a guitar. They are their own thing. I don't think they are quite right for a fretted Thunderbird, because they don't have the same amount of thunderousness, but they are perfect for a fretless. The other quirk they have is that they don't change volume much with height adjustment as much as they change sound. Farther away, they have a more red-brown sound. Up close to the strings they get more yellow-green. The change is subtle, but it's there. I put them in the Zombiecaster guitar and liked them enough to try them in the fretless 'Bird. I even thought about using the split coil version in the P-Bird, but went with rails instead. I can't bring myself to do normal.

Thanks My T-Bird has had a new pearl pick guard with a Blue Abalone T-Bird added and some Blue Abalone capped Witches hat knobs added. So Member# 113 is quite appropriate. Gotta luv it.

Purchased the Pearl Pickguard from an on-line supplier of parts (maybe All Parts - been so long ago I can't remember). Ordered a Blue Abalone blank from a shop that advertised Guitar Abalone inlay supplies. I had to trace the T-Bird and then cut it out. I used a New pair of Hair cutting scissors as they would be sharp enough. And then Super glue did the trick.
But it sure added a custom look. I also replaced the knobs with the old Gibson Witches Hat ones and cut a circular inlays for the top of them. But it does add a distinct look to the baby.
I saw war babies at the long beach chili cookoff, it was 1991 or 1992. I remember getting the hang me up cassette single promo that was being handed out.
If that was from sunset strip around that time it would have probably been labeled more on the hair metal, post neon spandex, ie guns and roses ish. That's what my teenage ears and eyes associated that with. But I can hear the Seattle in it.
Mould is an old fav of mine too.
And some of the grunginess of early 90s. Esp Soundgarden... Kim Thayill's guitar playing and Ben Sheppard's bass playing are great stuff I think. Also Tom Morello' s guitar... he's my favorite guitarist of the era.

Amongst others Kim was on a Seattle TV show.........Almost Live. Nobody pokes better fun at Seattle culture than this show, ever!

Yeah, I remember the firat time I saw you mention KEXP I had just been watching a session they did with Savages, which was a happy coincidence. Well apart from no TBird playing there.
Another Thunderbied band that Americans may not be aware of is the Darkness, who hail from deepest Lowestoft in the UK. Frankie Poullain afaik has only ever used TBirds.
The video was filmed at Wentworth Falls on the western perimeter of Sydney.

I really liked Sydney when we visited in 1987. I imagine it has changed a bit since then, but I recollect it being like a more tropical version of Seattle. Only with more amusing accents and the usual Australian creepy things that really are trying to kill you.
Might have changed a little in 30 years, yeah. The old downtown area has been pretty much obliterated by new development and it's all probably a bit less 'backward' than you remember.

I love The Darkness! I always wondered where that was shot, stunningly beautiful.

I didn't think of it as backward at all. I thought of it as a combination of goofy, energetic, and optimistic. And kinda sparkly. It's one of the very few places I would consider moving to if I had to leave Seattle.
For what its worth, I was there with the rugby club I played for, and we got schooled by local clubs. But, being Americans who learned to hit wearing all kinds of plastic armor, we blasted the locals out of their shoes on a fairly regular basis. They called us "courageous tacklers." I think that means something like ignorant hitters who recently escaped from a cave. It sure was fun. So, that may be coloring my thinking a little. I didn't enjoy Melbourne as much. The trip was too short to get anything except a quick impression. Who knows what I would think now.
