Thunderbird Club

Fossen worked at Bass Northwest part time, very nice guy. When I traded off my '73 4001 to help defray the cost of another Thunderbird, he said "I can sell this in a New York minute". He did, too. Now I miss that old Rick.

Yes, he took my credit number over the phone back in 2009 when I ordered my Warwick Bubinga Corvette Fretless five- having previously arranged the deal with proprietor and former TKO bassist Evan Sheeley-

Conversation when I called to make the purchase-

“Bass Northwest, this is Steve.”

“Hi, this is James calling to pay for the Warwick special order I arranged with Evan”

“Ok, just give me your credit card info and we’ll do this.”

“Ok, are sure you can handle it, given that Evan was my initial contact?”

“Yeah, I believe I can.”

True story- I didn’t know who it was until Evan told me!

I’m gobsmacked by that wild guess- who would’ve thunk?!!

Another great P player of that era that comes to mind is Dee Murray- check this out-

Just Elton, Nigel Olson, and Dee- don’t know where Davey Johnstone was-

I like early EJ w/Dee Murray -

Tuesday morning shiny bits.

They’re a mess. They provide decent traction on ice, but are slippery when the ice starts to melt. The locals know how to drive on them. But when the AB&B types come up, they’re clueless. An Escalade rolled over last week and the conditions were pretty mild.
We have more than our fair share of snow stupid here. Some are over confident in their driving ability (by a lot), some just think you can drive like normal, a few who have Jeeps, trucks etc. think themselves invincible--and then there are the people who can't drive wisely when it's warm and sunny. Driving in general is getting progressively worse. I suspect parents aren't teaching the wisdom of driving (talk to then about situations while driving) and just teach to pass the test and move on and not have to drive their kids places. With each generation being degraded, more stupid gets picked up by kids. Then add kids learning to constantly look at the phone while driving from adults....

I still believe EJ was one of the absolute best artists of our time.

I learned to drive in the snow by doing donuts in a big empty parking lot.
I remember a cop pulling up and asking what the hell we were doing. I told him I was practicing. He smiled and said to just watch out for the light poles.

Sliding around is the only way you can understand what to do when it happens.

Practicing.... yeah, right!

Apogee products are great, apart from their becoming obsolete via MacOS upgrades- my first gen Jam and Gio pedalboard among them-

Thankfully my second generation DUET still works-

With that said I’m more partial to IK Media products-
Sorry to hear about your Jam. It is officially unsupported? My 96k is listed to still work, but I can't find the USB cable for it right now.

What do you like about the IK stuff over Apogee?

About sums it up

I’d go to dirt roads and wet parking lots to
Practice braking, drifting, sliding, recovery, etc. on the motorcycle and in the car. It has served me well.
