Well...OK(?). Realizing I'm most likely in the minority-and stuck in the 70s-to me, slap bass is unnecessary and annoying, even when done 'well'. And leaves the kick drum as the lowest frequency sound(ugh!). Of course, if you can afford to pay two bass players...

Maybe we are in the minority, I have never even tried to do it. Back in the day I used to do some percussion on the end of the fretboard out of exuberance, had nothing to do with Slap though.

That pretty much leaves Chucky as our slap master and Larry Graham look alike...well, he did sport a white suit at one time.

It really alludes to his band in the '90s after "Tin Machine" - with Gail Ann Dorsey on bass - after his early Ziggy Stardust work, my favorite Bowie period.

I pretty much like all of his different periods. And Tin Machine. He always had the best play with him. His bassists were always great. Bolder, George Murray, Gail Ann, Flowers, Weeks, Lefebvre, even Visconti.

One of my very favorite Bowie songs ever, he's always surrounded himself with exceptional musicians. Slap is a technique I will never really master, if I could for just a few minutes, I'd play this song.

Note the Jazz bass and Firebird guitar.

The vids from that show are awesome. Tight band, great songs, and a guy who was obviously at peace. And his fabulous voice.

Thanks - we were able to control the B9 in the studio with equalization - which is what gave me the idea. It's a bit more present live, which works.

Graham just copied Chuck. That's all there is to it. Copied the white suit thing as well.

My DiCola equipped Tbird is rapidly becoming my #1 (out of 20 plus). A big thanks to George for helping with the VT/VT design. I just don't understand why each PUP on basses doesn’t have their own tone control, it just works, and makes the bridge PUP actually useful. I may retrofit all my players to this configuration. And before anyone asks, no tone bleed due to a couple of resistors (again thanks George).

Glad to hear it came out so good! Would love to see some pics and maybe a sound clip posted.

I should've auditioned for Them Crooked Vultures, You know, just to say I did. I think I got my crooked left foot turned straight after finishing that phrase. Pretty sure.

The drivers(many are sub-contracted)don't GAS. They put it on the porch, take a pic, beat feet, and get paid.
