Anyone have experiance with the Thunderbird Pro V?

I’m thinking of picking one up but have never played one. I also don’t have much experience with 4 string TBs as I’m a 5 player and I didn’t even know there was a 5 string version.

I don’t play a Pro V but I have a Pro IV so I can comment on quality and very nice build. I copper shielded the controls and preamp so very low noise but most my electrics are copper shielded. The fit and finish is really good. Nice grain and finish.

Stays in tune with through neck. Maybe a tad heavier then my 60’s model which has a slightly thinner neck. The Pro IV has a slightly smaller headstock but a nice Epiphone inlay.

They’re gorgeous. Tone is ok, very modern, clean preampy tone. The neck was just two big for my hands; i have short fingers.

Before the coffee-craze, I think most Americans thought Folgers etc was what coffee was. My mom used to drink boat-loads of it, but very watered down. Then there was the stuff sold at truck-stops drank on road-trips. Coffee pots sitting on their burners all day & night - literally rocket-fuel to keep your eye-lids open! When I graduated from undergrad art-school in the mid '70s, I did some house-painting work for one of the painting instructors. She offered me coffee while I worked and I said sure. She handed me an espresso, something I never had before or even heard of. I thanked her and after tasting it I thought, "man, she really burned this coffee!"

Thanks - it was a rare warm day* in SF and we shed our tux jackets. Even if it's cold outside and we're playing inside - wearing a monkey-suit is a sweat-fest. Also, being an old pic - Steve our drummer moved out of the area so we have a different drummer now.

*people who live in SF always get a chuckle out of Eric Burton's "...on a warm San Francisco night" lyric!

I played that tune as a teenager and then at a legion jam recently. It apparently stuck in my head, because I didn't have to think about it.

It lyrically was a snapshot of that time. His song "Monterey" also - a rockin' bass-line

and I won’t even need to change the strings

That Aria gives me memories of my first ever bass back in 77? 78 maybe.

Pretty much the same shape, single pickup, Gibson style head (maybe moreso than that one). But mine was in natural stain, like pine furniture colour.

I haven’t found any pictures of it so I’m going from dim memories. So no clue on brand name used or anything else.

Why I ever sold it I have no idea. Peer pressure I guess. I haven’t found the guy I sold it to, haven’t seen him since school finished.
