Thunderbird Club

I think having the right amp to start with is huge. If you’re not able to run direct in and get a good usable tone to start, then you’re pedal hunting from the start
IMO of course
I have been playing the same basses through the same amps for long enough that it's just a matter of adjustments these days. It's a blessing.

I’ve got some of these super long 65” straps I’m looking to sell:

Notice the solid brass hardware and strong leather-like ends?!
That's actually really great looking. It would look good holding up the Flamingo. It looks like it's a bit on the narrow side, so that one isn't going to happen. The wheels are turning. I may need a purple strap to go with the silks.

I've seen guitarists do it. Always wondered if it provided any real benefit.

It's amazing what jumpering the channels does - it's blase tone at best without.

it uses both sides of the preamp giving more signal strength and tonal variability since there are more controls (both channels) in the signal path....old guitarist trick and common with Marshalls....you can't do it on some Fenders....

This. It can also make the tone fatter simply by virtue of using two preamp input channels.

Been getting curious about these 200w Hiwatts…. No way will I spend 4K or even half that at this point, so I guess I’ll stay curious.

Maybe you should store some of your nice bass equipment at my house. Just in case. I don't mind. What are friends for anyway?

Wasn’t it you talking about a big quake in your area?

My concerns are more about flood, with a big huge dam five miles or so to my west, and levees on the sf bay a few hundred feet to my east….
