Thunderbird Club

Speaking of tubes.... Before I go listing it, anybody need a tube preamp/DI (Sushi Box Finally V2)?

I need an extra spot on the power supply for my fly in board and don't want to buy a new one so this is the piece to give up. With the 12ax7 it gets pretty rowdy if you crank it. A 12au7 calms it considerably. I'll include the factory 12ax7 and a "vintage" 12au7 of your choice from the 70s.

Club gets it cheaper than I'll list it for of course.

I just joined the club finally!!!

bought of slight fixer-upper Greco single pickup bird on reverb. I’m so pumped!!!

it currently has a Bartolini pickup in it which I plan to replace with a more vintage nickel/chrome pickup. What do you all recommend?

also, anyone know what tbird pickguards for early 80’s Greco basses?
I saw that one. Congratulations! It’s a shame it doesn’t have the stock pickup. Hopefully you’ll find the right pickup to do it justice.

There has been a Greco on my local CL for months now. He doesn’t understand why no one wants it since the original pickup was replaced with a Chinabucker. And he wants $1500 for it. “Sorry dude, not interested.”

With a seller like this one it best to assume it’s in limbo until shipping has been confirmed. So, I’ll have to get back to you on that in a few days.
But yes, it’s exactly what I was looking for.
Here's hoping.

I’m leaning towards the Gibson brand humbucker. Other than that, the pickguard, and possibly the input jack, it shouldn’t take much to get this bass back to how it should be. I talked him down on price too. I feel like a got a fair deal

from the numbers on a post from DMN sometime back it would seem IVs are rarer than IIs… wonder why IIs seem more desirable….
I have no idea the mix between the II’s and IV’s. But I know the goal was to keep costs down. It is such a shame only 90 were built. They are wonderful Thunderbirds.

I’m trying to find a reason NOT to buy this….

I’d only need 1 pickup…

I like the Greco because it’s a DC AND it has Greco pickups, but this sumbich has really got my head turned…

I have had it in my cart for weeks and I keep hoping someone buys it so I don’t have to. I also keep telling myself it probably weighs 18lbs to discourage myself…
