Thunderbird Club

My Epiphone ThunderBacker in mid build. A Rickenbacker neck pickup with a Rickenbacker clone bridge pickup, stainless steel headstock plate soon to say ThunderBacker ,some chrome tuning keys and maybe a chrome bridge or bridge cover. This monster sounds more like a Rickenbacker than my European made Rickenbacker clone.

Excuse the bad pics (nighttime basement lighting) but this the the 2014 Heritage cherry Thunderbird I picked up last night. Swapped all the chrome hardware from my 2006, got it set up pretty good and it plays awesome.

I will try to get some better pics in natural light.

Also the addition of the Lollar pickups and Babzic bridge really have a positive impact on the tone and playabilty, IMHO. I played my 06 with these pickups and bridge the sound was considerably different than this bass with the stock 3 point bridge and Gibson TB pickups. Better is subjective so I think a more apt description would be "expanded". The bridge and pickups really give you everything you like about T-birds just more of it. Great low end, ringing highs and a super fast neck.

Seriously, this is SEX BOMB.
I'd of kept the 3 point (Babciz isn't bad looking tho), way back in the day of Steve Barr's website "The Dudepit" several of us discussed the idea of doing this very bass as a custom run from Gibson, to see it in the flesh, all I can say is WoW!

Man, you didn't waste any time with the hardware change.
And wow!¡!¡! That looks ridiculously good!!!

My old GF had a doll collection and I would freak out when I had to go to the kitchen in the middle of the night. Her dolls were all set up in the living room and I had to walk through to get to the kitchen. Always felt that they were looking at me. I would swear that thier eyes followed me as I walked past them
Growing up in the '60's and I was about 10 years old when my younger brother and I first saw the Twilight Zone episode of Talking Tina. Little bro (at age 7) was pretty freaked out about the movie (gotta admit I thought it was creepy too).

We shared a bedroom, and that night I noticed that he took his GI Joe action figure and put it in his dresser drawer before going to bed. Not one to pass up an opportunity to prank the punk, I waited until he went to sleep then I got up and opened the dresser drawer and positioned Joe climbing out of the drawer. Then I nudged bro and jumped back in my bed. He about screamed when he saw GI Joe coming out of the drawer. I offered to get up and put Joe away.

As soon as bro went back to sleep I got up again and positioned Joe standing on the foot of his bed holding a knife in his hand. Nudged bro again, and he went through the roof when he saw it. I calmed him back down and put Joe back in the drawer again.

It took a while for bro to go back to sleep but when he did I got up, took Joe out and positioned him kneeling on bro's chest this time. A gentile nudge and bro woke up to GI Joe just inches from his face. That was it - mass hysteria, wailing, gnashing of teeth, running from the bedroom and screaming down the hallway all the way to mom and dads room.

Needless to say I was severely punished the next morning and grounded for quite a while. To this day I don't think my little brother can stand to be alone in the same room with a doll of any type. Oh the things we did as kids.

Boy, I'm sure glad you weren't my older brother! ;)

The toasters are a stretch (only visually) but the Ric fret-markers work w/the bird's aesthetics - a T-bird that sounds like a Ric ... viva la hybrids! :bassist:

HA! Good God, that's a hilarious read. There was a good side to growing up an only child after all... well, in this case...

Obviously not a Tbird but it is an exceptionally rare Fender to be in what appears to be unused condition. :woot:

Posted for the collector that may want it. I have no stake in the bass but could help facilitate.

All caught up. Exhausting.

It stays white.
Yay! Ok, white classic goes in the list.

Seriously gorgeous. I love that you can see the woodgrain through the transparent Hertiage Cherry. My new favourite colour, just edging ebony.

Any look like George's Mother???

Holy crap, I remember that movie! I think it was on TV after school one day when I was in elementary school.

We saw the promo for that movie and switched it off. Gave us shivers.

Well it's been an interesting week in the club. Talked about:

How we think Gibson could be a better company, which led to a very long argument about business and production etc.

Small discussion about German food in between the argument.

A little bit about scotch and other alcohols.

Big discussion on foods, diets, and exercise.

Even talked about dolls…

A bunch of small discussions too.

(I'm probably missing something big we talked about but I didn't feel like rereading 20 plus pages, just skimmed through)
