Thunderbird Club

JIO you probably recognize this ‘67 Gibson Kalamazoo Bass neck. I had Lay’s refret it and mount it on an EB0 body. The neck is so pencil thin it needed shimmed to fit in the pocket. It’s a fast little neck. I like the tuners too. I also salvaged the Gibson pick up and electronics. The original body was composite wood and falling apart.

Nice  I like how the brand is 'branded' and painted - and yah, similar tuners as on my late '60s Tempo. They came with thin posts like yours and big stubby posts like mine. I found a clean replacement for my D tuner as the chrome was coming off. Pic of the whole bass?

I'm thinking about getting a pickguard made to match the original KB-1. Unfortunately the original pickguard was unusable. I like the bass and it sounds good but the body I bought had a Jazz bass PU too which I never use.

My new Greco is here! This is my first Tbird. Ive always been drawn to P bass width necks, so when I learned greco’s had the wider nut, I knew it was the bird for me. I got this on reverb for a fair price given the condition. I already changed the pickup to a Gibson reissue. I also gave the bass a good cleaning and a quick setup and it’s sounding and feeling great! I have band practice here in a couple hours, so I’ll be able to give it a good run tonight.

I’ll be selling the Bartolini pickup if anyone is interested.

A J pickup by the bridge is bound to be overpowered by a mudbucker at the neck!

That pickguard really looks nice with that color.

Yes I can use either one by itself with the VVT but the bridge is pretty bright and I have to crank the bass control on my amp. I like plug and play so usually just leave it turned down.
I mainly use my '71 Slotted head stock EB-3 if I want the real Mudbucker experience. My KB-1 clone is more for noodling around.

I'm so stoked, I'm going to see my personal bass God, Mel Schacher with Grand Funk in Las Vegas today. I see them at least once a year, and he always brings it, reminding me why he is still my all-time favorite.
An OT comment then I’ll refrain from beating the Aussie drum.

If you like American Football, give the NRL a go. It’s on in LV this weekend, Allegiant Stadium, US$20 for the cheap tickets for a double header (2games).

sorry, but I figure if you are already in Las Vegas… it’s worth a mention.

I know the amps well, but never got to play a guitar or bass. I've always wanted to. And if you need a matching bass amp (30W upright) I got you covered.

I’ve got some cool metal knobs I’d like to sell that go great on Burst, Natural and Black birds:

Antique Brass (on burst)

Bright Brass (on natural)

shiny Stainless Steel (on black)

The shiny brass is brighter than it looks in the pics.

These are set screw and fit nicely over my original Gibson pots that are on the three pre-2000 basses they are currently on.

I’d like $40 per set plus $6 shipping.

Congratulations! Not sure how the Bart sounds. If the original was a 70’s Maxon, then too bad it was gone. The Gibson Reissue is a great pickup! You done well!
