Thunderbird Club

I’m missing something here. Isn’t the Tbird pup twice as wide as a J pup?
So you’ll have to rout anyway?
Some pickups can basically be mounted flat on the body instead of in a route. You are limited in adjustability though because the pickups can't be put any lower. Basically, if my strings are more than 9/64" away from the body it's theoretically possible.

If there's any qustion that the SIT Fusion are the same as the RBs, they never even changed the plastic sleeves.

Good evening Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. I hope everyone has enjoyed a relaxing weekend. My new position took effect Friday the 1st, and I have been crazy busy ever since. Still very happy and excited to begin this new chapter in my life and career. Thinking about a new bass, maybe to leave at the office, to just pick up and noodle on during trying moments. I have been enjoying my semi hollow bodies lately, and was wondering about the Guild Starfire. I am wondering if they have always been short scale? I have never owned a short scale and am uncertain about them. This old pic of Phil looks long scale, but may just be my perception. Yes, I am a fan of the Grateful Dead and Phil in particular, just wondering if anyone may have any thoughts on the Guilds.
Thanks much folks, I hope you all have a good evening. Go Zags.

As far as I'm aware, they've always been short-scale. My brother has one of the newer reissues (with Bisonics, not that one with the weird Precision pickup), and it's quite a nice bass. Feels a bit funny going to it from a Thunderbird, but it's unique and something you get used to.

My problem has been with Ampeg cabs. I love most of the heads. It's most of the cabs I can't get along with as I end up with the problems you mentioned. I do love my Heritage 410, however.

That could be part of it, I've only ever tried Ampeg heads with Ampeg cabs, and they're certainly in a different ball park from the cabs I'm used to (JBL loaded Sunns, Acoustics or 4x12 cabs). Maybe I'd get along with them better piping the heads thru the Sunn cabs, those JBLs certainly have a lot of clarity that I've become accustomed to. I will say, I do like my V4 cab with Basslites, not as hifi as the Sunn cabs but solid.
