Thunderbird Club

Why does the T.bird logo on my 2018 look a little different than the other ones I've seen? Is this a known variant or an aberration (aftermarket or otherwise)?

Your picture looks like the original 60s version to me. The Epiphone version is slightly different with cross hatches across the breast instead of feathers, pointy feather tips and no gap between the forehead and beak.

It's interesting the first Thunderbird pickguards I made back in 1982 featured cross hatches instead of feathers across the breast, this was because the only 60s logo I had to copy was on a very worn pickguard and the impression had become obscured and someone etched in cross hatches, it was all I had to go on when I did the artwork for the die. I still have the first pg I made in 1982.

This pickguard was on my first 60s NR during the early days of the internet and pictures were out there, I've often wondered if Epiphone pulled a image of my early Thunderbird logo and copied the cross hatches.

What screams out to me about Albert Ross' is mostly how the bottom part is incredibly asymmetrical. I haven't seen that before.

Is it like the picture or is that camera angle that makes the wings different and the tail lopsided?

Good evening Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. I hope everyone has enjoyed a relaxing weekend. My new position took effect Friday the 1st, and I have been crazy busy ever since. Still very happy and excited to begin this new chapter in my life and career. Thinking about a new bass, maybe to leave at the office, to just pick up and noodle on during trying moments. I have been enjoying my semi hollow bodies lately, and was wondering about the Guild Starfire. I am wondering if they have always been short scale? I have never owned a short scale and am uncertain about them. This old pic of Phil looks long scale, but may just be my perception. Yes, I am a fan of the Grateful Dead and Phil in particular, just wondering if anyone may have any thoughts on the Guilds.
Thanks much folks, I hope you all have a good evening. Go Zags.
I have an EB-2 and love it. That is my thought on semi-hollows. I have not played a Guild, but did play a Gretsch which was wonderful.

Thanks for the info @godofthunder59….you are a T.Bird subject matter expert for sure.

I like big tuners, I can not lie. I found a set of the big Wilkinson clover leafs tuners (from my first VP that got a set of vintage style reverse clover leafs)that came with the early shipments of Vintage Pros so I installed them on one of my later VPs with the short generic tuners. I'm very happy with the results and more mass at the headstock is always a good thing imho. Tall tuners just look normal.

If there's any qustion that the SIT Fusion are the same as the RBs, they never even changed the plastic sleeves.

You likely saw this from their site. "These bass strings (formerly called RB/Rock Bright)..." I guess Fusion sounds more current, and no pigeon-holing with "Rock" in the name.

I have a question for the Wizard of Hollister, the amazing @Chucky Stiletti. Having laid it on as thick as good hummus, have you ever seen a situation where plugging a guitar into one amp channel works fine but using pedals on the same channel gives no sound even with the pedals bypassed?
But everything works if you just move the same cable to the other channel?
