Thunderbird Club

I’m not sure we’ve talked about the GTG this summer Deej. Veronica is hosting it in Seattle 7/24 to 7/31. I’m arriving the 25th and leaving on the 29th. It would be great to meet you if you’re able to make the drive up.
I may not be on the mainland then. I'll have to check with my travel agent. If I am, I'd love to come.

:)

Mine, too. She's met several of y'all and looks forward to meeting more in Seattle this year! She'll be off with fam part of the time, but definitely want's club time as well.

…takes a special kind of woman to love a bass player. I think they must have to like cats too….

Special is right. I recently told my wife this is it...I'm downsizing on basses and guitars. The liar I am I recently bought two Thunderbirds! I have to buy a few more guitar wall hangers to display my new trophies!
Oh yes...she loves cats too! Unfortunately our Boots the cat died recently (sad). We now have a 3-year-old, 65-pound collie which we both love.

I'm [relatively] certain that string/amp/EQ choices make a monstrous difference in tone. And the player's preferences. That nasally, honky sound associated with them can be tamed. The one I played in a 'sitting in' situation sounded OK to me. Just felt a little weird compared to my NR.
I'm pretty sure there's a sound in a J that I would like and use. It's not like JPJ, Flea, and about a zillion others couldn't find a great sound somewhere lurking in a J. Thing is that I am happy with the sound I get from a Precision, Thunderbird, or any of the other bass guitars I already own. So there's no point in a Jazz for me.

Now, I have no use for tort on an electric bass. That's a different issue.

Anyone have an idea for a bridge replacement that is drop in? The current EB style bass has a 2 piece bridge and the bottom plate limits how low you can go. The bottom plate also is what is threaded for the adjustment bolts.

I put a Hipshot on my EB Bass but it was a 3 point bridge. If the spacing is the same the Hipshot should still work.

your brother is right…. of the humble opinion that many dislike it because you can’t hide slop behind that tone…..
It's not a matter of hiding sloppiness behind it to me. There are other tones that have the same revealing quality. It is an irritating sound. It's an awful swampy light green color that has all the charm of a pond full of algae. If other people think it's great, that's fine with me. No judgment, but I just hate it.

For myself, I wanna hear the bass notes, not the sameness of the kick drum. As @dagrev points out, Bass is* the original Surround Sound-IMNSHO.
*emphasis mine
And then there's the current trend toward overamplifying the low frequencies at the expense of mids. That turns to mush in a hurry. Even the kick drum sounds awful when you do that. Not that I'm judgmental or opinionated in any way. Nope. Not a bit.

That doesn't look like a Gibson Tilt-o-Matic two point, or at least not the one on my EB-2. But if it is, then Hipshot makes a replacement.
