Hmmm... Does anyone make a bass with a JPJ configuration?
The older AVRI '62 reissue, either a changed 3 knob control plate, or one of the export versions that came stock with the 3 knob control scheme.

light green swampy algae HUH?!….It's not a matter of hiding sloppiness behind it to me. There are other tones that have the same revealing quality. It is an irritating sound. It's an awful swampy light green color that has all the charm of a pond full of algae. If other people think it's great, that's fine with me. No judgment, but I just hate it.
Sold it with the Trace Elliot for $950.It’s all relative Dave. If you like it and are going to keep it, drop the coin. If you aren’t crazy about it, move it along. Maybe Geo could turn it into something special.
BTW, you ended up keeping the MM amp?

If you can reverse hearing colors, what does tort sound like?I'm pretty sure there's a sound in a J that I would like and use. It's not like JPJ, Flea, and about a zillion others couldn't find a great sound somewhere lurking in a J. Thing is that I am happy with the sound I get from a Precision, Thunderbird, or any of the other bass guitars I already own. So there's no point in a Jazz for me.
Now, I have no use for tort on an electric bass. That's a different issue.
I've been to a few concerts where the thump of the kick drum obliterates any tone from the bass. And then there's the current trend toward overamplifying the low frequencies at the expense of mids. That turns to mush in a hurry. Even the kick drum sounds awful when you do that. Not that I'm judgmental or opinionated in any way. Nope. Not a bit.
More than I was willing to give you. Congratulations!!Sold it with the Trace Elliot for $950.

I found a YT video on oiling the fret board w/o removing strings. Works quite well. Involves wax paper and paper towels(or soft cloth).
Thanks for the update.FYI, never received the Gorgomyte and it's been a month. I wrote to JJ and if no response, I'll just cancel once again.
How to make a J sound great.....Most of the Fenders I've played didn't do it for me. There was a J I liked, and not just for the neck. It was going through a REDDI directly to the board. Pretty sure it was stock, but no idea what year or what strings were on it.
Bee-yoo-ti-full.Porter sampling day. Needs another week or two to develop a nice head. It is nicely carbonated with a smooth coffee flavor.

My bass gear is in the garage. There is no volume limit out there…
Yes, I'm not a 3TSB fan either. If I found one that was fantastic (many are) I would consider it, but would be praying it wasn't: 1) 3TSB, and worse, 2) Antigua. Ken likes them as I recall, but I just can't, especially after they age. It’s especially good that I don’t care for the classic 3TSB at all, and both of mine started as 3TSB, and naturally over time change to my preferred choice of 2TSB.
You don't want to live in this head unless you are prepared for some unusual phenomena. I am use to it.light green swampy algae HUH?!….![]()
It doesn't work in reverse. Which is probably good. Can you imagine how deafening that would be?If you can reverse hearing colors, what does tort sound like?
I lost the post above, someone mentioned what it would sound like having a J body with the mudHammerTM in the neck position:
