That red EB is pretty. I've only seen burst ones around here

Mine is burst, and I'm thinking that it might get refinished one of these days. Dunno what color, though. By the time I'm done, everything will get refinished. Don't hold your breath, though. Slow is how I roll.

My EB-2 is safe though. It's already red and has a really nice, minimal patina. The '15 and '01 are probably safe. But maybe not, provided I live long enough.

There was also a gold version that looked pretty nice, and that would have been my first choice.

I want to say there was a white with tort, but I may be thinking of something else.

Sunbursts need to be refinished, very few don't look fugly.... mostly birds can get away with bursts...

for that price with a gibstone case, I couldn't say no!

Yeah the first gen I think was 2013-14 and the second gen was 2017-18.

The red has the 120th anniversary thing on the 12th fret, I don't have feeling either way about that.

I think Gibson really dropped the ball on these, they should have promoted the hell out of either model although I much prefer the first gen.

I didn't hear anything about these until the 2018's were on clearance....

The later gen is sooper ergonomic and comfortable, and that's the thing I like the least about it. boring and middle of the road styling...

First gen is raw and wiggling just the way I like it... ripper-ish in attitude...

pickups and VVT with pull pots are pure perfection, the pickups have enough ass in their britches to sound phenomenal, in either humbucking or single coil mode.

Are you taking about basses or women?

I drove British roadsters, VW Beetles, old vans, a 1965 pickup with no good parts. My current car is a 2010 Transit Connect. It's the newest vehicle I have ever owned. Safety? What's that?

Well since I blew up the 2014, my newest car is 32 years old....

I am going to put lap belts in the Rambler.

The Ford did come factory with front lap belts, but absolutely no place in the pan for rear belts.

corvette doesn't have back seat belts either...

We really wouldn't expect safety (or comfort) to be a main criterion for anyone with "Official leathers tester and crash dummy" as their avatar comment.

I like the heavy (50-115) Ken Smith Bass Burners for my D Standard/Drop C ‘bird.
I thought about putting heavy Bass Burners on the '01 and Flamingo, but I have decided to put standard weight strings on those for the comparison experiment. I hated Bass Burners when I first put a set of heavy strings on the Flamingo, but once they broke in, they were fantastic sounding. I never filed the nut, and that bass has EBCFs on it now. They don't seem to age. The heavy Bass Burners are on the '01, and it is beginning to sound dead. Time for new strings. Two sets of Bass Burners are on their way. The '15 currently has tapes on it, and those seem especially suited to that bass. I don't remember what strings are on the 2013 EB. It's got DeColas, but it's also an ash body, so it's naturally brighter than the '15. Going for a full rip your face off sound out of that one is probably going to be the goal.

I used to put Black Beauties on everything. I can't think of anything that has Black Beauties on it right now, with the exception of the fretless. Funny how our ears and preferences change over time.

have posted this track played with the BaCH NRIV (TBuckers) at other venues in the past…. this one features the Greco IV…..some say Greco IIs sound better than IVs…. if so, how much better?…:D ymmv of course….

You know as well as I do that you're just going to have to travel to Seattle with your Greco IV and see if it compares to my II :)

Meantime...............

I haven't worn those heels in awhile.......Hhhmmmm.........

I knew there was someone with skills here.
I like to think I have some skills, but finding things on Talkbass is not one of them...
Here is my solution for very narrow spacing on a MIJ NR I used to have:
The original bridge:
Burns Tbird2.jpeg

I made a plate of 1/8" aluminum and mounted individual bridges on it. Then took the ears off a Pbass bridge cover and used a single 10-32 screw into the bridge plate to mount it:

I really like that bass...it definitely has some cool vibe! Nice transformation on the bridge.

I agree completely. I got my 2013 when it was about a year old, and I got it for $500, shipped, with a case. The guy who had it said he only plays fivers now. When I got mine, it had the note marked under each fret, like somebody was learning the fretboard more or less, and marked it out to make it easier. I thought that was pretty funny. The marks are all gone now. Maybe I should remark the neck like it was.

Gibson quit making those just as people who would like them started discovering them. Way to go, Henry. I never liked the shape of the second generation of them as much, but then I haven't played one so I don't know what it would act like.

I love that bass. Something G&L should have made. I think the ASAT bass looks silly. I don't mind a Telecaster shape for guitar, but it looks weird for bass. But everybody likes different things.
I agree. I will buy two guitars in the next two to three years. A LPB 7ender Tele and a Firebird (either Epi or Gibson, color uncertain).
