Glad you didn’t pull the teeth on the one you sold to me! Ha! I just can’t play a fretless.

That's kinda why I sold it... I bought two and intended to defret both.

The red one I got as a second because the case handle wasn't stitched right, and I started with the defret on it. I still haven't finished the re-location of the side dots, and have a billion other projects so the de-fret wasn't going to happen this century....

That is a cool bass!
Thanks. One of ultimately 23 as I recall. There were 22 initially then one was made for Manny's. I think that was right. Been a long time since I thought about that.

We are thrilled to announce the alliance with BadAssBassPlayers.com, G&L Guitars, and Guitar Man, to collectively bring the members, what we set out to deliver to members here back in January, with our trip to NAMM 07. We have been working in the background with selected fellow members, Jim Green (spideyjg), Ken Baker, Jack Slattery (Templar), Mike Childree, Tris Carpenter (dukeplaysbass), Brad Dell (bdgotoh), and Garry Nutt, with a boat load of killer ideas, and I thank them all from the heart, for their expertise, insight, and knowledge.

We decided to have G&L build a U.S.A. L2000, 4 string bass. This very special Limited Edition bass, will have 2 G&L Magnetic Field humbucking pickups, G&L Tri-Tone active/passive electronics, 3-way mini-toggle pickup selector for parallel / single coil / series switching (a stock L2K is parallel/series), preamp control mini-toggle (off/on/on with high end EQ boost), hard rock #8 (12”radius board, 1½” width at the nut) maple neck, a fretted ebony board sans fret markers, but with side position markers, Custom G&L "Ultra-Lite" with aluminum tapered string posts, an incredible translucent Black Burst finish over a swamp ash body, and a painted black headstock with the BABPs logo at the end, all chrome hardware, and will ship in a G&L molded case. While G&L was willing to go where only Klingons have explored with configurations and options, we decided that our first L.E. needed to be special enough with the switching and finish options, exclusive to members, while maintaining affordability. And simply BADASS.

We’d like to especially thank Dave McLaren, Phyllis Fender, and Dave Chavez from G&L. Matt De Silva of Guitar Man for his great work ethic and trust to deliver here. Due to the discounted pricing we have worked out, G&L has requested that we do not publicly announce the pricing. Please correspond with Matt DeSilva via PM or email [email protected] , or call Matt at 212-475-5150 for pricing, ordering details, deadlines, roll out dates or anything else pertaining to the G&L B.A.B.E (Bad Ass Bass Edition). In the honor of the great Mr. Leo Fender and George Fullerton, let’s do this!

Probably the most loved/hated bass brand out there! That’s a beauty. What don’t you like about it?
I can play about any bass, but those felt more odd than most. Real neck-diver as well. I never could get it sounding like I hoped it would sound. Ended up trading it for the Regenerate below (and got some money). Fantastic bass. Nordy pickups and 2-band pre that can be bypassed. One of the best trades I ever made, if not the best. With this, I don't miss the Ric one bit.

Is it DeCola Sadterday already?

I thinks the earlier version sits more thunderbird-like and the later version sits more 7ender-like.

uhgg I shaging hate those gibstone knobs…

You picked up the red one? Nice! I'm not so sure about the later versions, like your black one.

So true. Fenders tend to be all over the place and not much you can do unless you start changing things. I think even the Ric I had was off some. On the other hand, all 3 of my G&Ls are spot on.

Well, yah - G&L's... (and G&L related basses...) :bassist:

That red EB is pretty. I've only seen burst ones around here
Mine is burst, and I'm thinking that it might get refinished one of these days. Dunno what color, though. By the time I'm done, everything will get refinished. Don't hold your breath, though. Slow is how I roll.

My EB-2 is safe though. It's already red and has a really nice, minimal patina. The '15 and '01 are probably safe. But maybe not, provided I live long enough.

for that price with a gibstone case, I couldn't say no!

Yeah the first gen I think was 2013-14 and the second gen was 2017-18.

The red has the 120th anniversary thing on the 12th fret, I don't have feeling either way about that.

I think Gibson really dropped the ball on these, they should have promoted the hell out of either model although I much prefer the first gen.

I didn't hear anything about these until the 2018's were on clearance....

The later gen is sooper ergonomic and comfortable, and that's the thing I like the least about it. boring and middle of the road styling...

First gen is raw and wiggling just the way I like it... ripper-ish in attitude...

pickups and VVT with pull pots are pure perfection, the pickups have enough ass in their britches to sound phenomenal, in either humbucking or single coil mode.

My goodness. Glad you made it.
New cars, for all their faults, are in most cases much safer than older ones. There was a study done that I read about using a typical 50s model verses a typical 2000s, I think it was. Something like that. The newer was much better to be in if a crash happened in most scenarios. Thus I go for big modern truck truck with great ratings. Best of both worlds.
I drove British roadsters, VW Beetles, old vans, a 1965 pickup with no good parts. My current car is a 2010 Transit Connect. It's the newest vehicle I have ever owned. Safety? What's that?
