Never needed to stare at the sun-my Dad's movie lights did the trick. Aptly named "Sun Guns".
BTW, I used a "Sun Gun" to illuminate the "Sun Gun" box in the picture.

My dad was an 8mm movie guy when we were kids. When inside shooting birthdays, Christmas, whatever - the bank of those hot lights came out. (4 if I remember correctly) Half the time we would be squinting. I used it once to do a movie of a model car I just spent many hrs on and wanted a 'close-up'... yah, you know what happened.
