Thunderbird Club

That is what I've been thinking. Sad I passed the train on the Novoselic one! But if they keep going up with the prices I might just get one custom built (or pray to Zeus that Epiphone makes one).

I think I would prefer the standard version instead of the artist version - no need for the Moog electronics.
Also cool if they threw in a pair of soap bars instead of a pair of single coils like on the Novoselic signature.

I had the pleasure of trying a white ESP D-TR 290 Custom Shop RD bass at Thomann's a couple of months ago - stunning bass, but I wasn't to fond of the active electronics, and it was extremely expensive (€ 2555,-) :(

Had the price been the same as an Epi Classic Pro IV, I would have bought it in a heartbeat and turned it into passive...

I bought a used Novoselic and modded it into what I wanted it to be. Didn't care for the Jazz pickups and I had a vision in mind for this from the start. Lots of tonal options on this now with the split coils. I love the RD Artist, but I really don't need all of the Moog options on there. I would have done these same mod's to the ESP/Edwards RD if I had gotten ahold of one.

That, sir, is almost exactly what I had in mind!

Lovely! Great job.

I played a Novoselec and didn't like the Jazz Bass pickups either.

Another option is a NOS RD Standard loaded guard. I bought one a few years back as a spare for my RD Standard pictured earlier in the thread because these humbuckers were only used in the RD Standard and will very be hard to find in time, I expect. I checked mine and put them away in case I ever need it.
I notice the seller has one left. ( I am in no way connected with the seller but she was good to deal with- in the past she had other NOS Gibson parts).

If interested, I posted a link to a Flyguitars page with some sound clips of the RD Standard at #2778 of this thread.

Great rooms!

I have decided to get some thunderbuckers for my walnut 2014. I'm still a little unsure of whether to go the 66's or the Max's. I am going for a huge old shool fat tone so I'm curious if the Max's hotter wind might pull away some of the low end. Steve at thunderbucker ranch seems to think I'll have to enlarge the routing on my bird but I would have assumed all the pickups to be virtually the same apart from the depth.

I really want to get the babicz bridge for the thunderbird but there still doesn't seem to be any available?

Edit: just checked tb plus dimensions to thunderbuckers. Tb plus are a little bigger so fitting should be a breeze!

More winds equal more BASS. That was the intention when we designed the MAX. 63 are brightest, 66 in the middle tone and volumewise, MAX darkest and loudest.

No neck throughs for me. My basses sound the same as my '64 TBirds so I don't see the point. Whatever advantage neckthrough has is nullified by the three point bridge IMO...I don't like 'high mass' either like the Supertone and Babicz. Just muddies up the tone.

Cool wall! That red guitar looks like the same model as my first "real" guitar: A Fender Lead I.

Yep! That's what it is. 1981 Fender Lead I, but I took out the stacked humbucker and had a new pick guard cut. The pickup is a Gibson P-94 (humbucker sized) wired straight to a single volume knob. Great little punk rock guitar.

Cool! I can't remember the year but I bought it the first year they were released, so maybe a 1980?? Mine was black and from what I remember was a nice guitar.

That red guitar looks SO small compared to the bass guitars - Looks like a kid's guitar. Is that a regular guitar scale?

Btw, love that black G3 of yours - looks really nice on the wall :)

My vision for a music room/office is just about complete. The only changes I still need to make is switching from acoustic drums to some nice Roland's. Going to add a bench for some seating area too.

Thanks for sharing these shots!
They're beautiful rooms, very inspiring places to make music with like minded people!

I'll have to re shoot this as I've swapped out the light fixture and the table is in a different position now.
