The obvious answer will be EBCF's (Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats)

45-100 for E Standard tuning works well, and 45-105 does good if you do any drop D.

50-105 if you like higher tension
55-110 if you do D standard.

+1 on all of the above!

I'll give a -1 on all the above.

Since the hand surgery, I have gone light on everything. I don't have flats on anything right now, but my (RS66) E string is 95 these days.

great question, it's an (you were right) isolator…..a cheap light block to provide darkness for an optocoupler mounted on the PCB underneath…..

I am partial to Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats and Ken Smith Bass Burners. Cobalt Flats have purple silks (perfect). Bass Burners have orange silks (not so good). I haven't decided which I like better. At the moment, I have two Thunderbirds strung with Bass Burners for comparison purposes.

There is much to be said for red silks.

LOL - I need to get me some of those. Could use it in my golf match this morning in Valencia. Never played that course before but I've heard it's a tight course, which means wrong fairway play is a real possibility.

Our favorite place used to be a family owned place in Whittier. It was always packed. The food was fantastic. We used their catering service all the time for events at my in-laws' place. The patriarch passed away and the "kids" decided to "upgrade" and go in a different direction. Wagu beef, more exoctic entrees, that sort of thing. I'll be damned if I'll pay a $100 a person or more for dinner there. I'll give 'em another year. Maybe two. If they don't fix things, they'll close. In the meantime, they're dead to me.

Like you, I have my limits on what I'm going to pay for something that will end up at the sewer processing plant the next day.
