If you get SIT strings over there, I'd recommend trying their Power Steels. Raise the pickups up close to the strings, put the neck pickup on full and the bridge rolled off a bit, and enjoy.

Power Steels really do sound great with TB Plus pickups, easily the best that have tried over the years, really brought this bass to life.

great question, it's an (you were right) isolator…..a cheap light block to provide darkness for an optocoupler mounted on the PCB underneath…..

Power Steels really do sound great with TB Plus pickups, easily the best that have tried over the years, really brought this bass to life.

They are also really good with the DeColas on the '15, and the stock standard Epi pickups.

Hi guys, greetings from Czech again. Neck cleaned, frets kissed by steelwool, so smooth and shiny as a mirror, but THE question arises. Which strings? I love rock (TB will be perfect for M Manson covers) and metal, but still i love flatwounds most for smoothness and no noise from sucky playing... So, any heretic here as well? What you like, guys? Should i smack myself for that idea? All good? Whats your ideal brand?

I am using everything from old school La Bellas on five string SR885 ( great feel, ok full sound but maybe tooo old-chool for fiver) Rotos - awesome feel and tone on my short scale for some Bowie stuff. But got EB 2810 (without B string) on my active BC Rich Zombie - brutal and full sound!

To immediate usage, i have some bronze strings from 5s Ibanez BTB, practically new nickel wound on another Ibanez (with 4 pegs in line even) and even new packed EB cobalt flatwounds, again five string pack, so B might be handy if Drop tune pedal wont be good enough for B.

If i would buy another new, id get probably Elixirs from rounds or Thomastik TI flats to test. So, what ya use and suggest? My question might be might be used as some kind of survey... Thanks and have a cool day.

I love stainless steel rounds. I actually think they are making me a better player as I pay more attention to fretting technique to keep the string noise at bay. SIT Power Steels or Dunlop Marcus Miller Superbrights are pretty much all I'm using anymore.

I am partial to Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats and Ken Smith Bass Burners. Cobalt Flats have purple silks (perfect). Bass Burners have orange silks (not so good). I haven't decided which I like better. At the moment, I have two Thunderbirds strung with Bass Burners for comparison purposes.

I am partial to Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats and Ken Smith Bass Burners. Cobalt Flats have purple silks (perfect). Bass Burners have orange silks (not so good). I haven't decided which I like better. At the moment, I have two Thunderbirds strung with Bass Burners for comparison purposes.

If you like Ken Smiths, I think the obvious choice for you is the Rock Masters. Purple silks.

Yup. I don't really expect the Princess Fingers club to switch to gloves just to play EBCFs, whereas Scott really has no choice if he wants to play bass well. But he inspired the suggestion!
