It's got all the trappings of that era; cotter-pin crank, close-ratio frt chain-rings with guard, rear spoke-guard, Mafac center-pull cantilever brakes, 2nd set inside bars brake levers, pump-pegs/pump, double wing-nut axles, Simplex deraileurs... it's just missing a water-bottle cage.

I had a very early 70s red, white and blue Schwinn Continental that had close to $1,000 worth of upgrades for racing. I bought it for $125 from a friend. Loved that bike. I think the derailleurs and brakes were all Campagnolo.

Inspection over on the epimophoam baseses…

The purple is a sickly lavenderish base with darker purple rain flakes. It almost stomach churning and beautiful at the same time. You really have to love purple to love this abomination…. I love it…

The blue is more traditional blue sparkle and almost looks boring next to the purple, but it’s not boring in the least.

both have a nice weight on the lighter side of a base geetar.

gig bags are well fitting but thin on the padding, but quite nice.

We had the pump under the top bar so we could put a bottle cage on the front down tube.

Perfect! I’m looking for obnoxiously attractive with the purple bird. Kinda like my Shell Pink sparkle NR Acasia bird and my Emerald Green sparkle Dingwall DBird. Sounds like she’ll be in good company, should be here Thursday.

I can play other nut widths, but I associate 1.5" with a Tbird.
If a Jazz bass has a Pre neck on it, that also bothers me, but somehow not the other way round

I always prefer a 1.5" nut, but funny thing is that my Carvin's nut is wider, yet I'd jump at the chance to have that neck shape in my Thunderbird. I guess for me the neck shape is more important than the nut width.

I may be getting a better gig. I’ve got two irons in the fire. Knock on wood. Should know in a week or thereabouts. If so, I’ll pull the trigger on a Zzounds sparking blue, visit George, and see if Ricky still has the Lull. If not, nothing new for me for awhile. Having to work at 66 sucks. Big time.

That Lull is to die for! Unfortunately my left hand isn’t getting along with 5 string basses these days, endless they’re fanned fret. That and a funding shortage as I prepare to put a new $50,000 roof on my house.

That Lull is to die for! Unfortunately my left hand isn’t getting along with 5 string basses these days, endless they’re fanned fret. That and a funding shortage as I prepare to put a new $50,000 roof on my house.

Say what? That house can’t be more than 25 years old. Is it? Around here, most roofs have a 25 year warranty.
